Aye. Warner hooked his first ball of the series for four didn't he?

I don't and have never denied that Jimmy is a prime protagonist on-field - what I do question is your sources.
It seems the gob-shite Watne is upto his old tricks again, when he said "he'd heard it all" off the stump mike when commenting for Ch 9.
The attention whore just can't step back from shoving his snort into the melee . . .
I still blame Boof.

the current indian team is full of foul-mouths and they don't complain either way
the ones from an earlier era were gods amongst men. can't blame them for feeling dirty with some of the scum that was around in international cricket

That's the problem with these put downs . . .they meld over the years and you just don't know which one was actually uttered at the time!

Gods - my arse.
They were mere mortals who got sucked up into godlike effigies by an ignorant public who just wanted to add more gods to the hundreds already in existance.

It's gratifying to put the scummy saffers in their place though. Once again they've begun howling beggary for a series against us.

Re: Trott quits the tour!
Thoughtful new cricinfo article by Martin Crowe, this time on Trott and the masquerade element of the Ashes - particularly discussing possible reasons for recent high-profile theatrical performances with the mouth and face.
Includes some stinging remarks, even, briefly, for Michael Clarke (!).
Is Crowe turning into a second Brearley?
http://www.espncricinfo.com/magazine/content/story/693959.html
But thought-provoking as the read is, and useful as an attempt to simmer down an overwrought/overblown situation on various sides, I think the problem is that his diagnosis raises further questions, while settling few arguments.
For example:
1) Is "the mask" as he identifies it actually a hard concept, or very fluid, relativistic?
2) Isn't "the mask" as he uses it not just another word for "(exaggerated) show of confidence"?
3) Would it be possible for more than a small handful of people ever to play Test cricket without this "mask", of the sort he describes? Wouldn't the vast majority of players just want to be "normal people", and play local and regional cricket for sport?
4) the biggest "however" (though Crowe is here at most responsible for poking it with a stick of reason): in fact, don't most cricket supporters, patriots, personal inadequates and - more cynically, the media hacks who grind these wheels for cash - actually prefer the gladiatorial virility-show bullshit, and to restoke the smouldering prejudices (of myth and ignorance, rather than history) once again against their much-needed opponents?
Or perhaps I misread the article.
