Re: English Domestic Season 2015
Perhaps not a good general symptom for cricket in England.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cricket/32177289
Barney Gibson: [who had been] youngest first-class cricketer retires, aged 19
Though I suppose you could just say he personally wasn't able to "push on" with Yorks, or any other club, so looked for an alternative career, away from cricket. While still a teenager. And thus absolutely not part of a grand malaise/draining-away.

Re: English Domestic Season 2015
The Yorkies had another young keeper destined for great things. Greg Wood. A "crackerjack" talent, t'Boycs t'said.
Released and disappeared off the face of t'earth by t'wenty.
I guess no-one can ever measure up to the legend of Richard Blakey.

Yorks 2nds had a strong side, altho will lose some players to the firsts despite that i think they will cover him, andrew hodd is the 2nd xl keeper so barney couldn't get a game.

hmmn...I see crocinfo barely achieved polite in belittling the Pears chances in Div 1..
a pox on them and their Gilesonian view of the world.
The Pears and the Yorkies will lead Div 1

Bollocks to Cricinfo and all who sail in her. It will be hard to stay up but by no means impossible. Charlie Morris is a good 'un: not expressly quick but nippy and he swings the ball. James Foster reckons our keeper Ben Cox is one of the best young keepers he has seen.
I think acquiring Gidman was a shrewd move, he's always looked a decent bat when I've seen him.

Re: English Domestic Season 2015
Well, why not? We have weaknesses to be sure, e.g. the lack of an experienced opening partner for Mitchell and possibly the back-up seam bowling options.
Basically, we need approximately 150 points to stay up: that translates into about five wins and five draws. Like I said, not impossible just bloody hard.

Re: English Domestic Season 2015
Day One of the County Championship. Chris Read has to rescue us from ineptitude which, at one stage, had briefly threatened competence. Which means it could be any year since 2010, really. I guess everything is always pretty much the same, only the supporting cast are any different. In life, I mean, not in cricket. Until you die, anyway. Then there's oblivion, if that's nihilistic enough for you. Oh well, whatever. F*ck all of you guys, anyway.

KP hits 170... against Oxford University, which is a bit like thrashing Yorkshire CCC at rowing or advanced calculus. Still, at least he seems to have remembered what a red ball looks like.

You forgot to mention Brendan Taylor getting a ton, opening the innings.
I see Tom Fell has racked up another ton. Word on the street is he's the biz, he looked decent in the limited overs match I saw. Baz may know more

Tom Fell? I don't like his name. He could be Ian Bell if your spell-checker went reverse-Asimov.

He's good Danny, he did doing well last year but you know how it is - the journos can't be arsed with Div 2. Keep an eye on Charlie Morris with the ball tomorrow. From 129/2, 264/8 isn't wonderful but we were competitive, and that's all I ask.

Actually, it doesn't matter Baz, I'm sort of seeing Chives' point of view about his name. He's not going to make it

So what are you suggesting this time? Thump Fellatio?

This Miles chap has picked up 8 so far for Gloucestershire, turns out he's dobberlicious. Start them young, I suppose

So, about cricinfo's preview regarding Worcestershire ... they were probably a little too kind.

You can't bowl for Gloucs unless you're a 77mph dobber. It's the rules.

Makes perfect sense if you knew the conditions - first two days is was really wet - he takes 8, yesterday was much fairer - Willey canes him for a shitload of runs. The folly of English cricket - he'll come away feeling pleased with his returns
Re: English Domestic Season 2015
Middlesex, defying belief (except from Harris and Murtagh) and against all odds,
unexpectedly squeeze out a draw against Notts! Lucky sods!
Welcome to Division 1 to both Hants and Worcestershire ... who both lost their opening games!
