Ah, Lord Kelvin got an unbeaten 50. Rejoice, loyal subjects. Then bow.

Ah well, we made it to day 4. That's progress of sorts.

Ajmal Shazhad- Remember him? Seems he's back in the wickets again. If he's in form England would be foolish to ignore him. He's the type of cricketer that makes things happen, which is something the current England attack doesn't do.
Needs a captain who doesn't care about his RPO and just tells him to go for wickets, though.....

The Shazza train has been and gone. He bombed out of Yorkshire under the banner headline "bad attitude".
That's akin to molesting the cricket pope. England won't go anywhere near him again. He's even more unselectable than Pietersen.

Another unbeaten hundred for Hales. The only potential vacancy in the England batting order seems to be Cook's opening partner. Hales is batting at three for Notts this season, although he's obviously familiar with opening.
He's behind Lyth in the pecking order obviously, but he's a player with the potential to dominate bowling attacks, and is surely a player who should be given a chance when in form.

Re: English Domestic Season 2015
It might be the best thing that's happened to Hales: his new-found determination to get into the Test team.
Should focus his mind and floppy technique on playing properly. For a couple of years there, as a "top T20 batsman" he was a bit of a one-shot joke - the slog across the line. Followed by the rattling of timber.
Not that there's a serious chance of him playing Tests in the near future.

My boys Roy and Vince have started the season slow.
Playing the long con, lads. Good thinking.

You didn't mention Our Lord Kelvin and his totally and completely non-muppet-like 32.
Re: English Domestic Season 2015
Oliver Robinson having a handy FC debut. Scored a hundred (110) in his first innings, took out the top three batsmen (4-71) with his first bowl.
21 year old fast bowler, sacked by Yorkshire for "unprofessional actions" last season. Related to Paul Farbrace, apparently.

I'm shocked that no one has done the most recent 'Martin Guptill going alpeshit" news.
In Martin Guptill going apeshit news he's scored 227 off 176 today with 11 6s.
It'll probably rain for 2 days now. Let's go Derbyshire. Â

Ooh, I see Northwanks are toe-to-knee with the might of Leicestershire. I'm welling up with pride.
Re: English Domestic Season 2015
17 year old Lawrence from Essex makes 161 in his second first class match. Must be the youngest English first class centurion since.....Nicky Peng? And that worked out well.....

Alex Hales retains a faint hope of reaching 1000 first-class runs before May is out, although there's only two more matches between now and then, so it's very faint indeed. I suppose he's done okay to say he started the Championship season with a duck.

You sound like you are cowering in grim expectation of the wheels coming off already.
Congratulations anyway!

It's just one of those things where you want it to happen just so you don't hear about it again - like Sachin's 100th 100. Yawnsville unimaginative journalism. I don't expect us to challenge anything in any format. F*ck us. And the malnourished gnu that we rode in on

If Leics don't win a game again this season, they should at least face a re-election vote or a play-off with the Minor County champions.

If only! I'm no less or more optimistic about our chances of survival than when the season started - out of seven days play to date, we have been competitive in 5. It's just that the batting went awol at the wrong time.
