Is Cameron Green just a more environmentally friendly version of Cameron White?

Green got hit on the head while bowling FFS and has been replaced for the match.
Talk of Aust drafting in Uzzie and Shaun Marsh!

Not following- but what the feck happened to Khwaja?
Cameron Green - I hope he does himself an injury for this series, but after our tour, this lad sounds like a great talent.

I was going to say “he was just a bit crap” but looking up his Test record he does average slightly over 40... not spectacular, I know, but I would have guessed more low-30s if he was out of the picture.furriner wrote:Not following- but what the feck happened to Khwaja?

Only 9 days until the First Test.
Will Starc be fit?
With Pucovski injured and impossible to name (IMO), and Burns' position equally hopeless, I think they might throw a curve ball and ask Wade to open.
Warner
Wade
Labuschagne
Smith
Head
Green
Paine
Cummins
Hazelwood
Lyon
Starc
Neser
OK, given the injuries and form slumps since I posted the above, I'm wondering whether it will be Harris or Shaun Marsh (don't laugh - he's made runs all season, opening) in for Warner, and I think they'll put a pure batsman in the 12 for Green as well, but who? Former players Burns Khawaja and Handscomb are nowhere to be seen in the runs department ... but Renshaw has made runs recently. I'd go with him.

Harris has been brought into the squad to cover Puke. The dire Burns looks like keeping his spot.
Re: Australia v India, 1st Test, Adelaide, 17-21 December, 2020
Wrench made a ton last start but that was a) batting at #5, b) his first decent score since about 1985, and c) because of the pitchforked-together schedule, already three weeks ago. Bringing him in now may be another Robbie Kerr.

I don't think Coach Langer likes his laid back attitude,

The Bannies are gonna tear us a spare arsehole, espesh if they get to bowl at us under lights.
Burns is a walking pair, so we are bound to get off to a rubbish start in both innings.
We will be heavily reliant on Shrapnel and Smudge to make runs.

Re: Australia v India, 1st Test, Adelaide, 17-21 December, 2020
So let's think positively and assume commonsense prevails and Burns is asked to go back to Grade and find some form, and Aus decides to open with Harris and either Shapnel or Weed.
Either way (I prefer the Weed option), it opens the door for someone in the middle order. Cam Green is out with a bowler-suffered concussion (seriously??), so who comes in??
Please don't suggest rejects like Bog or Ooze. It will be time to give an up-and-comer a go.
The only problem is that the Shield averages cupboard is bare once we rule out Puke, Snot, Bog and Ooze. We have Josh Inglis and Reeks as the best candidates. Really?? Please. No.
So what do we do?? I just can't see Inglis being selected, nor can I see Reeks being asked to put his shaky knees in front of an Ashtray deliver.
I really don't know the answer. I fear that the selectors will simply opt to go with Burns and avert a middle order selection problem (= Aus 1-0). Or, if not, it will be Bog or Ooze in the middle order.
I suppose, if push comes to shove, the latter would be my least hated option.
Are we really ranked the no. 1 test side atm????

Hasn't Pucovski suffered from concussions a few times already? Surely there must be a point where the people around need to have a think on his options.
Easy for me to say and it's his career on the line even before he's started really. But I've never heard of a cricketer playing on with such a history of concussions.

Mark Vermeulen obviously, had concussions and worse, which may have contributed to his escalating mental issues though he clearly had a tendency towards it from a young age.

Right, forgot about Langer. Vermeulen was, as you stated, probably had mental issues at the outset.
I looked them both up. Vermeulen was hit thrice in his career apparently. (https://www.bbc.com/sport/cricket/30377213)
Langer, I've found one instance - the one where an Ntini ball hit him. Were there others?
But Puckovski apparently has been hit 9 times already (https://www.smh.com.au/sport/cricket/how-many-more-is-too-many-pucovski-concussions-spark-concern-20201209-p56m3r.html)
I don't know if the definition of concussion or it's evaluation has changed over the years to become more encompassing, but 9!

Langer was sconed and rattled by either Bishop or Courtney on Test debut at Adelaide.

Both as I remember. Harmison also rammed one ear thru his other earhole as first ball of 2005 Ashes (yes smart-asses, JL WAS the facing batsman at the time)

Tubby, Warnie and Crappelli all saying Burns must be pissed back off to Grade to find confidence.
I reckon so low is Monty's confidence at the moment that Brisvegas Grade bowlers would be licking their lips.
