Re: English Domestic Season 2022
County Roads take me home etc. There have been some very flat wkts this season.
A bunch of former england rejects have cashed in recently. Buster has twice batted for 9 hours for
Lancs, 1st time for a double, then a triple, while Hameed and Duckett put on 400 vs derbys weak
bowling combo. Meanwhile current England hopeful Crawley hasnt got past 84.

410* at lunch. First quad in county cricket since Lara.skully wrote:Sam Northeast currently 369* for Glamorgan.
Unbeaten partnership of 461 with Chris Cooke (191*). 577 the world record in that department.

And they declare, putting the outside chance of a result ahead of record breaking. Didn’t even let Cooke get his 200!
The record partnership in FC cricket is actually 624, my initial search was incorrect… but even that was gettable in two more sessions, in addition to Lara’s individual record.

Well, it paid off, they skittled Leicestershite for 183 in two sessions and won by an innings! Might yet earn them promotion…Nath wrote:should have gone after Lara's record.

New FC record for highest first innings score by a team who lost by an innings.

Whats the deal with playing the England One Day Cup and the Hundred at the same time?

Re: English Domestic Season 2022
The 50-over cricket has been effectively relegated to being a second XI contest now, as there just isn’t enough room in the calendar for everything. The greater crowd pull of the existing T20 was preferred for the early summer slot.embee wrote:Whats the deal with playing the England One Day Cup and the Hundred at the same time?

Re: English Domestic Season 2022
If anyone had noticed, the 16.4 is underway, squeezed out of the limelight by the Commonwealth Games and early start to the football season (though Isa Guha took an evening off her studio coverage of the former to present a match!)
Stokes and Bairstow sitting it out, which won’t help the marketability.

20-year-old Will Smeed hits the first 16.4-over century. Or Hundred hundred, if you want a cheesier headline…

James Hildreth to retire at the end of the season. With 47 FC centuries including a triple and an average of 41, arguably the best uncapped English batsman of his generation - perhaps playing at batsman-friendly Taunton hindered his cause.

He was actually a sub fielder in the 2005 Ashes, less celebrated than his colleague Gary Pratt but did take a catch to dismiss Ponting apparently. So can claim a role in English Test cricket’s finest hour this century, even if he never got a full cap in any format!

Will Jacks with the second, and fastest, century in 16.4 over cricket. Just to post on something (slightly) more interesting than No Rules Football and Fake Rugby

Re: English Domestic Season 2022
so far the 100 matches i've occasionally watched on tv have
been pretty boring and one sided. i havnt watched any of
them to the end. the last 1 was memorable only for a great
diving catch by a player i'd never heard of before [although
hes played for 14 years - my bad], and 3 wkts by garton.
the commentary is truly awful with them discussing any
old shite rather than the criket in front of them and
interrupted by interviews with players actually on the
pitch which is annoying, even when theyr bowling.
the novelty was entertaining last year but now i begin
to hate it.

Re: English Domestic Season 2022
Yeah, all feels a bit exhibition-y, but that’s true of all franchise cricket really. Does anyone really remember who won these leagues each year? Whereas we remember who won Test series, and World Cups, rather less so for bilateral JAMODI series and SODITs.
I guess it’s Generation Z cricket, for “fans” who follow star players whoever they represent, rather than committing to the ups and downs of supporting a team. All a bit soulless really.

Yesterday's game was truly awful. Welsh Fire? Welsh Damp Squib more like and not a single Welsh player on the park. The only "home" player was playing for Southern Brave.

Welsh Damp Squib could take on Southern Cowards, Trent Peashooters, London Weak Beer, Manchester Photocopies, Northern Phonechargers, Birmingham Pheasants and Oval Eminently Beatables.

Re: English Domestic Season 2022
The Squnthorpe Problem is alive and well in the ‘20s on this technologically advanced* internet forum then… probably 30 years after residents of said town wondered why their emails were being blocked.
I presume mishit, Lightwater Valley and Arsenal don’t go the same way.
*Well, it was just about fit for purpose in 2007…
