Re: Current overrated XI
hmnn...worth some thought...
the term is sometimes used in assessments of players from other teams...ie Bresnan is an over rated Cydesdale who cannot pull or carry the carrots and oats he consumes
and then in reflecting on the claims of a player in the team one supports...ie a carved up Clotto bottom lip could supply steaks for an end of year footy trip

Was looking for the Steyn thread and came across this gem.

got this right, though

4. Clarke- Declared a FAC whilst still swimming towards his mum's egg
5. Malik (Shoaib)- Captain's Pakistan yet hasn't even proved himself as a test player
6. Dilshan- Rated as a "Brilliant stroke player" yet he hardly ever comes off
7. Boucher+ -Average 'keeper, average batsman, yet hailed by many as a 'great'
8. Vettori- You'd think he was up there with Warne. Averages 34 in tests.....
9. Broad- Ok he's young, but hasn't really done much to justify the hype...yet
10. Johnson- Can't swing the ball into the right handers, and pretty wayward
11. Southee- NZ'ers are crossing their fingers with him...Might just be shit.
thats reverse jgkesque

I stand by my assertions in relation to Clarke, Boucher, and Vettori.

Re: Current overrated XI
Henry usually Trevs people from potential greatness to vanishing obscurity (see threads on Malan, Trego, any Somerset player under the age of 40 with a BMI lower than Blackwell's) but this is a good example of the less frequent Vert phenomenon.

The SA subdivision of a Vert is a Der. See threads on Steyn, Smith, ABdV and Philander.
