Agree, Bevan was found out at test level, especially against the short ball.

Ummm, Roy has already surpassed Bevo by quite a way and will only continue to improve . . ..

Not really. He's made a couple of 100's in an era of weaker bowling than what Bevan faced.

He avergaes 12 runs an innings more and his average has continued to rise pretty much every test he's played . . .

He came down for the ODIs. Was so poor they left him on the sidelines most of the time.

Only really since that 150 against England. Before that it hovered around the 20 or under mark.

South Africa next summer will be the big test for Symonds. I suspect their pace attack will work him over, but let's see....

Any second now you will start chuntering about his T20 form.

If you want to debate at least compare apples with apples.

TBH, only a twat would try and highlight some gash ODI series as an allusion to his likely Test capability... especially as it's obviously his weaker suit and it doesn't take an Aussie to pummel him. Oh, it was you Red.

Since his comeback at Perth he has averaged 75 with the bat and 27 with the ball. With both his hundreds coming when Australia were in trouble and putting in a match winning bowling effort.

As I said, the summer here will be his biggest test. And it's up to Symonds to keep his graph going north if he wants to be remembered as a very good test player. Then he has to maintain a high average.

That's unheard of . . . you need a high average to be considered a very good test player?

VVS and Sehwag overrated? How so?

Sehwag averages close to 52 in test cricket, at a s/r of close to 77. And has scored in each test playing nation. Was a converted opener if you forget. Has a very good record against Aus and Pak, 2 of the best bowling sides in World. If he does that at that s/r how can he be overrated?

As for VVS, he has played many back to the wall innings against by far the best side of last 1.5 decades. How can he be overrated then? Afterall nobody has revered him as best batsman in the world yet on the basis of those innings.

PS: Sehwag averages 50+ against SA as well. So thats 3 best bowling sides of world cricket and he averages 50+ against each one of them. How can he be overrated then?
