Ashocka gives one out that was going over and missing off stump by quite some distance.

We really do have some poor umpires in the "elite".

79/3
Kemar Roach hasn't taken a wicket yet but looks seriously good IMO.

98/4, awful shot from Siddique to give away his wicket. How can you be late on a pull shot against Dave Bernard?

Excellent captaincy from Reifer btw, every bowling change has worked a treat and the fields set have been imaginative and attacking.

Does Reifer genuinely have a chance of replacing Gayle as the full time captain?

Surely not in the real world. But do the WICB live in the real world? Their vice president was muttering about severance pay for the West Indies regulars who are on strike

Raining on and off all the time in the Caribbean during hurricane season.... shock horror! Well done ICC, this future tours program is great isn't it.........
PP, Kemar Roach has been up at 90 mph with an average speed of 88 in his second spell (speed gun wasn't working yesterday). Lovely action, natural swing in and out and a lively short delivery too. I can't believe we were playing Baker instead of giving this sort of talent a chance.

Well you never know, WI being forced into fielding a 2nd/3rd string may actually pay benefits
Tino Best on the comeback trail eh?

Watch out World, and mind the windows........... coming to a cricket ground near you.
As I keep saying, this bowling attack is actually alright, if you swapped Best and Bernard for Edwards and Taylor it would be a better attack than the senior team. The fielding is a zillion times more enthusiastic too.
The problem is going to come when we bat because this team has Dale Richards and Reifer but nothing else at all.

Maybe Bangladesh would develop better by playing second teams of the major nations regularly? Although I guess they did that before they had Test status. They've made virtually no progress in ten years in the longer game and if they lose this (or are outplayed in a rain-affected draw) then the ICC needs to have a real think about why they haven't improved and whether there is a way forward for them.

238 all out, tail wagged AGAIN....
Excellent bowling from Roach was the highlight of the innings and Waltons keeping was superb.
Now the awkward bit for the Windies starts.

But they won't because it's another vote for the Asian bloc within the ICC, so it is in the interests of the likes of India to keep them in. Not that I blame them for that in the slightest, but it is a power game.

So, on that basis I guess Afghanistan will be the next Test nation, as soon as they manage to win a T20 against Ireland perhaps...Shoeshine wrote:beamer wrote:Maybe Bangladesh would develop better by playing second teams of the major nations regularly? If this is a Test match the ICC may as well go all the way and give Test status to the Intercontinental Cup matches. Most of those teams would probably beat these two sides anyway.

I wouldn't fancy their chances against the Windies replacement sides bowling attack tbh, which is almost as good as the senior side.
Having said that the batting lineup for Windies is piss poor, so if they get near the Bangladesh score serious questions should be asked IMHO

Windies 76/1 and don't seem to be troubled at all. The night watchman doesn't seem to be bothered either...

The one thing this match will show you is that there is still a lot of talent in the Caribbean.
Omar Phillips comes from nowhere to play test cricket and looks the part, Ryan Austin looks like a good attacking off spinner and then comes in as night watchman and does a cracking job.

I just really looked closely at the team we selected (as you can tell I'm extremely interested in this match). We picked 5 bowlers, a bowling all rounder in Dave Bernard and a wicket keeper who judging from his first ball duck and the fact I never heard of him before is no great shakes with the bat. Which means we are basically playing this match with 4 batsmen. None of whom are of any real quality. Bangladesh really should not let us get 200 runs

Windies D are bowled out for 307 a lead of 69. Pathetic from Bangladesh really, considering just how bad our batting lineup was. Bernard coming in at 6 is about as weak as it gets.
