Isn't the age of the average gamer about 35?
So you must be about the same age as me then?
There's this new outdoor game some people play. I believe it's called cricket.

I'm 36, you made yourself sound like you were in your mid-fifties!

I feel so young, compared to the rest of you wise old tyrants. Apart from Horrie maybe, no jealousy there.

I'm 37. Just sufficiently older to be able to give you a slap.
Taips - hence why the one game I've played in the last.....errrrr.....must be about 5 years really is a cricket one.

If you no longer find games fun, you're not far of wearing a cardigan and joining the local bowls club. You be careful...

I find games lots of fun. That's why I play cricket, rather than.....oh I don't know - maybe sitting on a lardy backside playing computer games?

Every chance. These computer game addicts could end up doing anything.

Re: PC/Console games
Just picked up Civ IV - looks like it will be a real challenge even at fairly low levels.
Age is no barrier to gaming - keeps the mind active, especially strategy games. I never even owned a console or PC until I was 40.

I haven't heard a definite number but some speculation of about £225-250.
But i guess we'll see soon.

Absolutely incredible game is Civ IV. Quite easy to have one of those "shit, where have the last 6 hours gone?" moments with it though.Growler wrote:Just picked up Civ IV - looks like it will be a real challenge even at fairly low levels.

Civ IV is so awesome. Amazing game. Did you get the expansion packs as well? I tried playing it for 20 minutes the other day. Ended up playing it for 3 hours.

Re: PC/Console games
Turn based strategy game. You basically start a civilisation with a couple of nomadic units with spears in the year 4000 BC and then build the civilisation up with new technologies etc until you get to the modern era. There are also other civilsations in the world and you can interact with them, it can be quite prosperous to trade but I usually just like to crush them all.Batman wrote:Civ IV? What's it about? All of the other world leaders have a fairly low opinion of me as my usual tactic is to negotiate a peace deal whereby I agree to call a cease fire if they give me money and then just destroy them anyway. Good times.

Re: PC/Console games
Henry, no - just the basic game. I got it for nothing from freecycle - someone bought it before realising it wasn't the kind of game they imagined.
I suspect I'll be busy enough without expansion packs, for a month or three at least.

LOL I had CivII. Make alliances for a while and trade technology. Build a huge army and become communist, then break the alliances one by one. Not forgetting to build a big spy network to steal technology and commit acts of sabotage, of course.
