Bannies v subis Empty Bannies v subis

Post by skully Mon 15 Mar 2010, 12:12

A very harmless abbreviating of "subcontinental teams" i.e. "subis" was created some years back (can't even remember if it was on C4 or here at FB) but the more humourless of our subcontinental buddies decided that they'd deem "subis" a "racist" epithet, even though it was merely a far simpler thing to type than the full 19 letter full term.

Is it inevitable that "Bannies" will suffer the same unfair treatment?

Are you saying Bannies = Bangles ...?

And would that not be confused with BanIndias, which I think is a far more appropriate abbreviation, having, as I and a lot on here do, a soft spot for the Bangladeshies?.

I (or anybody else on this forum, as far as I'm aware) have never referred to the Deshis as "Bannies". They have always been the Bangles or the Bangers.

Clearly Bannies are BanIndians. Let there be no doubt. Cool

Very rough and off the cuff translation:

The Sheikh can go to Mecca; me, I'm off to England
He can go see the House of God, I'm for the wonders* the good Lord made

*meaning Wine, women, song etc

See, furri comes in with some humour, while other twats come in their blow up girlfriends.

If only some of the other Bannies could take a leaf out of the furrster's book.

Dunno what I'd call most Indians - I suppose it's up to them - but I see nothing wrong with 'curry stain on the shirtfront of Humanity' for the likes of Batty and Buckwit.
