Bangladesh V England, 2nd test, Mirpur, 20 March - 24 March
Right, let's get this show on the road.
Tredwell to play? At whose expense though, Trott or Carberry?

Trott was abysmal in all areas during the first test, even his fielding was shoddy.
Carberry has shown how vital good fielding can be on those fast, dry outfields. He even outshone Collingwood, who dropped a couple.
I'd keep Carberry in for Test two.

I'd drop Trott as well - him not being a regular opener, but you know what selectors are like - show them the obvious decision to make and they'll go and do something bizzarely different.

But Brezzy at 7? English cricket in crisis.

A left-wing selection would be to drop Trott and Bresnan and bring in Plunkett and Tredwell.
I recall Plunkett didn't go to badly in his debut out in Pakistan, so his "kiss-the-surface" bowling might be a foil for Broad and Finn who are willing to bang it in.

There's no chance Bresnan will be dropped - he might lack a bit of pace for these pitches, but he'll bowl all day if needs be.

True that.
England might want to ponder using Plunkett during the return series back in England. With Sidebottom out for a good while; Plunkett and Anderson might run through the top order on a swinging day.
While Big Brez has done what's asked of him (run in without complaint and bowl a good L+L) I don't think he'll be a regular fixture in England's future Test line up. Especially with Anderson returning.

Plunkett for Trott would make sense. But he may need to replace Broad.

Broad just needs to learn to appeal at the Umpire. He got lucky because he was apparently "friendly" with the Ump from the last game. Others might not have been so lenient.

Can't see Plunkett playing much this Summer. You can assume that subject to fitness, Broad, Anderson and Onions would be England's preferred seam bowlers, closely followed by Finn.
Jury's out on Bresnan - I can't see him doing much damage to quality batting line-ups, but i think the selectors like his approach, and his batting potential down the order.
Can't see Siders putting on an England shirt again.
Finn might just get an extended run in the side if we do the sensible thing and play five bowlers.

So we've already forgotten about Rashid?
I mean if Tredwell succeeds, will he be a Udalist bowler - to only play on tours of the Sub-continent?

Trott might have a bowl, but Colly is looking the likely sixth choice.

All depends on the pitch of course, if they produce a bouncy pitch (which is doubtful because they can't play the fast stuff) then Plunkett unfortuately gets a game.
Otherwise it'll be Tredwell. Depressing stuff.... (he'll probably go on an get 10 in the match). At least he strengthens the batting further I suppose.
Trott to miss out then, but that means Bell at 3 FFS.
The choices are like getting to have a go at Hayden Pantierre but only after you've had your head cut open by Sylar first.

Finn and Shahzad seem to be England's current up-and-coming flavour of t'months.
But, as history tells us, that probably isn't part of some well thought-out policy and may well not be the case in as little as a few week's time...

Bad times indeed.

I've just started the 3rd series. It's utter bilge but I find myself having to watch.
