Re: Rugby Leeeeeg 2011
Kerrrrrrrrrr-Rye-Sttttttt, who'd be a coach???!!! Garquen Hornby kicks it dead on the full from the first kick-off of the match to gift the Sheep a penalty and try, and then, wait for it, does it from next kick-off as well. FMD.

Re: Rugby Leeeeeg 2011
In making the post that Wally quoted, I had mistakenly assumed there was only 2 rounds left (when there were 3), so both Wally's scenarios could've seen the soft Drags miss the semis, and after losing to the Storm last week, I think that was still a possibility (Wally can confirm).WideWally wrote:WideWally wrote:skully wrote:Drags have Warriors and Panthers left. Could easily lose both of them to finish 7th or 8th. They are actually lucky that Newcastle and Souths play each other because if they didn't, both could finish on 30 points and dump the Drags from the 8. What a woeful effort since SoO started.
What happens if -
Dragons lose to both Warriors & Panthers
Bulldogs defeat Manly, Knights & Raiders
Knights defeat Broncos, lose to Bulldogs but defeat Rabbitohs
Tigers defeat Eels, Roosters or Sharks
Or if -
Dragons lose to both Warriors & Panthers
Rabbitohs defeat Broncos & Knights
Knights defeat Broncos, defeat Bulldogs & lose to Rabbitohs
Tigers defeat Eels, Roosters or Sharks
Dragons aren't safe on 29 particularly if the Knights defeat the Broncos on Monday
But, thank garque, the Drags have finally snapped the losing streak, and have secured a final 8 spot. After a sh!thouse start where they conceded penalties and tries from successive kick-offs, they came back to win 26-22, although I thought they choked again, as the Sheep had 6 tackles on the Drags quarter with 4 minutes to go.
Drags momentarily in 5th spot and are an outside chance of making the top 4 if the Cows and the Tiges fall over. But the Tiges look most likely with the Titans and Sharks to come. Warriors v Cows in last round will be critical.

Re: Rugby Leeeeeg 2011
So, get prepared for some bleating from the Coastal Filth (and probably the Cheaty Cheaters as well). The Leeeeg is looking very dimly at the all-in brawl last weekend. The two main sideline protagonists Glenn Stewart (Filth) and Adam Blair (Cheats) will be gone for the season. Brett Stewart, like the filthy grubby cat that he is, ran from 30 m away and was 3rd man in with a coathanger on Blair, will go for at least 3 weeks.
Filth players Foran, Robertson and Lussick will get at least a week for following Stewart in, as will Cheats players Hinchcliff, Waqa, Norrie and Lowe.
Manly will have to field a Toyota Cup team v Nags next week. I hope the Broncs smash 'em by 50.

1 weeks, more likely. Apparently his playing record is clean as. And close-run court cases for indecent assault don't count for anything at the NRL judiciary.Brett Stewart, like the filthy grubby cat that he is, ran from 30 m away and was 3rd man in with a coathanger on Blair, will go for at least 3 weeks.
Of course, Nein managed to dig up a couple of bogans from the current playing ranks at other clubs who thought 'a bit of biff is a good thing', and Danny Weidler even pestered Gallop at a press conference with the 'surely a bit of biff is all right' stuff.

Foxy is saying a likely 3 weeks. The Leeeeg looks very dimly at 3rd man in, espesh when they run from 30 m.
The only saving grace for him is that the NRL might be gun-shy about looking like they are persecuting Stewart (as you allude).

Brett Stewart will get 3 weeks if he fights the charge and loses. An early plea means 1 week, and probably 75 or so carryover points.

Re: Rugby Leeeeeg 2011
No way that he'll fight it. The risk of missing out on a semi is too high and the Broncs match is pretty meaningless in the scheme of things.
This might all be a blessing in disguise for Manly and the Storm - a forced rest for a few players near the end of the season in a match with nothing at stake.

Re: Rugby Leeeeeg 2011
The bleating on some Manly fansites yesterday was predictable and funny. One guy (?) called "Commander Clit" had started a petition calling for the NRL to publicly apologise over their persecution of Stewart.
Most thought the two protoganists should get a week each and the gutless scum who tried to lynch the Storm player were public spirited citizens who should be commended for endangering themselves in their efforts to protect their teamate.
I've been prowling some jihadist sites for a couple of weeks now and the folks their don't talk so much crap.

Manly are easily the most hated, and paranoid club in the comp. Grubs, the lot of 'em.
Tiges are looking in ominous form coming into the semis. Any of the top 6 could win the comp. Grouse.

Tiges should score fourth place. Hopefully the Drags can score fifth and the Broncos can avoid them in the finals.

Re: Rugby Leeeeeg 2011
I only watched the Storm Manly game on Friday night because I'd read there was an all-in fight in it (advertised by the NRL website's review of the game) and then the NRL gets pissed off that the brawl isnt the image they want to promote
It was certainly a strange twist after one of the best moments of sportsmanship I can remember when Slater and some other Storm tacklers "stopped" and supported Williams who had a serious injury.(That sounds gay but those who saw it will know what I mean)
When the NRL starts using the fight footage to advertise the game will they refund the fines to the clubs?

If there GF is Manly vs Storm sometime in the next 10 years there will be some mention of the fight in the pre match league sanctioned propaganda

Re: Rugby Leeeeeg 2011
"Mention" maybe ("old scores to be settled" "finish the fight", etc), but I would doubt they would show footage of the fight to promote the game. Certainly not while Gallop is at the helm.
The worst all in and most brutal fight I ever saw was in the 1973 Grand Final when Manly and Cronulla beat the sh!t out of each other (admittedly I was barely a teenager at the time, so it's mystique may have grown over the years). And I don't recall that footage ever getting air in game promotions.
Is it something the AFL does?

A cyberfreddo that they do ...the qunts in charge forget very quickly when it comes to putting bums on seats ...and retracting the ads just makes for more promotion
Just like Qantas got very little publicity out of the two Samo impersonators until someone claimed it was racist and they removed the photos (I know they are different games but they all go the same school of marketing even farknuts like gallop )
