Re: County Cricket 2011 Season (III)
Teams | Mat | Won | Lost | Tied | Draw | Aban | Pts |
Northamptonshire | 16* | 6 | 2 | 0 | 7 | 0 | 206 |
Surrey | 16* | 7 | 4 | 0 | 4 | 0 | 206 |
If I couldn't guarantee that we are sh!t and will not go up, I'd be excited.
Re: County Cricket 2011 Season (III)
Surrey move a point ahead on 207.
Just need to match Northants from here.

Leicestershire's keeper's called Ned Eckersley.
What an awesome name. Well done him.

"Necksley", "Nex" or "Izzit (Eckerslike)" for short.
After Nix, Nex.

Good to see Hamps are taking the match seriously, and have used eight bowlers so far, including Daws, Carbs and NeilMcKens.

Northants scrape a third batting point... as Surrey notch a fifth.
Still as you were - one point in it.

Exciting.
I'm rooting for Northants.
Tho not in the Australian sense.

Exciting - neh. Who's to say we'll win anyway. Honestly, I'll be more surprised rather than less if we go up. And I'll be the first to admit we just don't deserve it.
As for the title race, I've been watching the match since I've got in. There's been some pretty OK probing bowling from the Hants attack. What an acquisition Chanderpaul was, really. He's had an influence on a couple of matches, matches that have put Warks in this position. Top batsman. The new ball has been doing a bit and he's been as doughty as ever.

Re: County Cricket 2011 Season (III)
Anyway, providing that we both win, we're done unless this last pair can get 85 more runs and hence 5 batting points. If we get four and hence are level on points, Surrey will go up on most wins.
Warks are massively in the driving seat. Lancs just can't get Zummerzut out. Warks need 4 more runs for the third point which would get them over the line, providing they both win.
Durham look f*cked BUT both the Rose Bowl and Taunton are seeming like flatties....

ignominy for the Yorkies...poor leadership saw us achieve draws when wins were in the offing...pomgolian cricket in crisis as the Pears stay afloat in the cc waste system

We're not quite safe yet, but it looks more likely than not.

Re: County Cricket 2011 Season (III)
One little whinge would be that we've been unlucky with rain. A couple of games, the opposition have been saved. Looks like it's going to sh!t it down here, whilst Surrey seems to be all lovely. Not that it matters, fell 7 short of the 4th batting point anyway.
Warks still crabbing. A little too confident in getting Hants out twice IMO. I HOPE they f*ck it. Got no time for those qunts anyway and the way they're batting like it's a guarantee.......

Re: County Cricket 2011 Season (III)
How quickly cricket changes around.
Kerrigan ran through the Hampshire second innings, while Keedy could hardly buy a thrill.
Now - three days later - Keedy has 5 of the 9 Soms wickets on first innings, and Kerrigan is 0-75.
What hasn't changed around so quickly is that Lancs are still as good as out of it. Only two sets of Hampshire crumbles (entirely likely! ), a magnificent first-knock batting 400-500 by Lancs (now that WOULD be a sea change) followed by a Soms crumble second up (almost as unlikely) will change any of that.
Oh well, in the bowling at least, some signs for the future for Lancs. Brown, in his debut full year, may yet come through, after a mainly green year. Croft showed a fair bit of batting prowess until his recent dip. Fletcher is a young work in progress. And - Moore apart - they are all home-grown lads, no overseas players for a number of matches now. Kerrigan and perhaps Parry look good for a few years to come, and can still add to their craft of F&G (flight and guile).
A #4 bat and a less uneven opening bowler than Saj still needed.

If they could only get one of Hogg or Smith to concentrate less (!) on batting and add a yard and a half to their bowling pace. A bit late for that now, I guess.
Both have had intermittent (matchwinning) success with bat and ball, but they are too medium paced to carry the attack in unfriendly conditions.

Kerrigan was screwed as soon as non-talent-spotter Peter Moores stated that he was international class.
Re: County Cricket 2011 Season (III)
I meant of course an AVOIDANCE of two sets of Hampshire crumbles. (etc etc)
Decidedly NOT so likely!

Was dithery also about numbers of wickets.
Keedy had four.
As I posted that, Kerrigan got his first.
So he is not dead yet.

Gloucester rolling over. Northants back in the shake up.
Points are tied.
Derbyshire also rolling over. It's all a bit pathetic, frankly.
