Lancs at least giving it a try.
And at 4 an over, compared with Warks at 3.

A sixth point for Northants. The bowlers have nudged them one ahead of Surrey.

Should've paid Derbs to declare. Had it been the other way around, any team would've declared for Surrey.
Re: County Cricket 2011 Season (III)
Ramps declared for Surrey on his own, didn't he?
After he was bullied by the bigwigs at Lord's.

Moore's initials seem to stand for SlowCoach. But he's up to 50 at last.

Don't get me wrong, I rate someone like Horton but they just haven't had the best season. Looks like you could be quids in here - can you believe Warks are still batting? Nearly 2 days for under 500! They must be terribly confident of taking 20 wickets.
Re: County Cricket 2011 Season (III)
I take your point that they have not performed this season.
Could be terminal for the Chillerman, Several of the others are still in the "promising prospects" category - see top of this page somewhere.
ANd if Procter (not ProctOr, I notice) can follow in his namesake's footsteps ...

Warks all out for 483.
Let's see how the Hampshire batting does. Or the weather.
It's still (big) advantage Bears. No woof intended. (Though I will take the woof.)

Re: County Cricket 2011 Season (III)
The pitch looks easy as at the Rose Bowl. Warks dobbing it down. Even Jimmy Adams hasn't gotten out yet - must be a belter!
So it's on. On and exciting. It's heartening that the last three seasons have been a close run thing. No romping away. Even Durham are still in it, what with Bears crabbing it and Lancs only slightly in the ascendancy at Taunton. Both of those games could well end in draws.
Good stuff.
Oh, David Willey - how strange. Still, Lucas was keeping him out of the side but 64 off 69 balls, followed by 5-29, followed by 3-14 so far has left me astonished. Astonished.
But probably to no avail. Surrey have the 2nd bowling point and are on their way getting the third and enforcing the follow-on. N'hants are solely relying on rain.

Hants have a lot to do. A lot. Dead pitch. They have to get a lead then bowl Warks out again. Big ask.
Re: County Cricket 2011 Season (III)
You were twelve runs from safety, Baz. A dozen runs.
Still, rather hard to see Hampshire overhauling let alone beating the champions-in-waiting!

Gloucs folding lamely.
At the moment, a Northants win is much closer than a Surrey triumph.

Or wait for the Bears to set them a target if Lancs look like getting a result.

Meh. There's an air of inevitability about it all. Surrey are an irresistable force ATM and fair play - they've chucked big money at big prospects and they're paying off. We'll no doubt win, but I can only see rain thwarting Surrey.

That's a looonnnggg way off - Hants 49/0 1st innings at the start of day three! That means that Hants will have to get near parity just to make Warks try to contrive a result. TBH both champ matches seem to be heading for a draw. Surprising that Hants produced a belter IMO.
Re: County Cricket 2011 Season (III)
Don't think they can do anything else with the pitch at the Rose Bowl, to be honest.
It's either an absolute road, or it's rags square on the first morning and they get docked points.
Can't seem to find a happy medium.

ignominy for the Yorkies...poor leadership saw us achieve draws when wins were in the offing...pomgolian cricket in crisis as the Pears stay afloat in the cc waste system
A real shame.
Oh well, at least we can watch Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow tearing up Div 2 next season.

Shazhad and Rashid going at over 40 runs per wicket not an issue then?

Re: County Cricket 2011 Season (III)
Yorks have got some seriously talented young players - it's a mystery why it fell apart for them this year.
Knowing Yorkshire, there will be a period of mature contemplation and reflection - followed by a civil war and multiple sackings.
I don't think we're joining them, but our fecking middle order insists on keeping it interesting!
