Re: County Cricket 2011 Season (III)
Woe.
The slurrey of the north, and now the real slurrey threatening to win the silverware. Never has so much strutting occured in one season!

Once again, none of the Somerset batsmen taking responsibility when it really matters. Yet another case of "oh well, the next guy will do it". FFS...

County cricket - could it get more arrogant?

Good knock from Buttler though, and good stuff from Dirtbag too.

Surrey win by five wickets. They're beginning to look like the real deal.

Where was Kieron Pollard, 40 overs too long for him?

Is it time to get rid of the Lord's final? I'm sure Surrey would have preferred to have played at the Oval rather than across the Thames at Lord's.
The team with the most points should host the final.

Damp squib in the end. Surrey romped it well. Unforch they're looking the business.

Nothing like a full house - they used to hang from the rafters for the knock-out final.

Aye, I'm not sure the threat of weather helps nowadays with the prices they charge.

The old finals day didn't have to compete with a 5 match ODI series, and was it ever as late as this in the season?

Yeah, and let's move the FA Cup final away from Wembley while we're at it and have a draw for who plays at home... And maybe play major rugby finals at somewhere with a 10,000 capacity instead of Twickenham!Henry wrote:Is it time to get rid of the Lord's final? The Lord's final is one of the traditions of the English county season, it's the current competition that's at fault rather than the venue. Bring back the old 50 over knockout competition, perhaps with an initial group phase if they want more games. And look at the scheduling, this just feels too late in the year for the domestic season to be going on.
