apparently Cowan won't be able to play in the first prez match because of his commitments to the Big Bash Sydney sewage pit team...it seems that Big Bash has precedence over everything else

Re: Australian Domestic Cricket 2011/12 (II)
WOW. Did not expect to see this sort of scorecard today, thought the Snoozers would have been out of it by now but they're favourites.
When was the last time NZ won a test against Aus?

Re: Australian Domestic Cricket 2011/12 (II)
Google reckons 1992/3. Nearly 20 years without losing a single test to the snoozers, but that record looks a bit dicey right now.

Re: Australian Domestic Cricket 2011/12 (II)
Christina Matthews Appointed CEO
Monday, 12 December 2011
The Western Australian Cricket Association takes great pleasure in announcing the appointment of experienced sports administrator and former Australian women's cricket representative Christina Matthews as its new Chief Executive Officer.
Matthews is General Manager of Commercial Operations and Communication at Cricket New South Wales, and will move to Perth to take up the role which will be vacated by Graeme Wood later this month.
Matthews has spent the past decade with Cricket New South Wales, starting as Events Manager in 2002 before moving to her current role in 2005. The senior executive position included responsibility for Cricket NSW's strategic direction, managing partnerships with sponsors, rights holders and suppliers, government relations and an active role in the development of the Blacktown training facility. She has also served as Acting Chief Executive Officer of Cricket NSW for prolonged periods.
Prior to joining Cricket NSW, Matthews was General Manager of Sydney Grade Cricket club Balmain for three years and has also worked for Women's Cricket Australia, Women's Hockey Australia and the Victorian Football Association.
Matthews kept wickets in 20 Tests and 47 one-day international matches for Australia between 1984 and 1995, including two World Cups in 1988 and 1993, and was the Southern Stars' Vice Captain from 1991 to 1993. She has also served in a number of off-field roles for the Australian women's team, including Manager, Assistant Coach, and Chairperson of the CA Selection Panel.
Matthews said: "It is a great honour to be appointed CEO of the Western Australian Cricket Association given the contribution and leadership that WA is making to cricket, along with the presence of Western Australians in driving changes across Australian Cricket.
"It is such an exciting time at the WACA with the opportunity to build upon the achievements to date such as the ground development plans and the emergence of the Perth Scorchers. All of this sends a message about the difference the WACA is making to cricket locally in WA and nationally.
"I bring not only a strong background in cricket administration but a genuine passion for the game. I want the grass roots cricket community to be viable and sustainable as well as ensure that participation in cricket, whether that is players, spectators or consumers, keeps growing and developing.
"Cricket is a great sport and I am proud to continue my role in the game as Chief Executive Officer of the WACA.”
WACA Chairman David Williams says Matthews comes as the complete package.
"Christina's record is outstanding as a player and administrator, with extensive experience as a negotiator and commercial operator as well as Acting CEO of Cricket New South Wales on a number of occasions,” Williams said.
"The WACA has had two outstanding Chief Executive Officers in Tony Dodemaide and Graeme Wood, who were both past international players, and we have again gone to the cricket family for our new CEO.
"As we welcome Christina I would again pay tribute to the magnificent contribution of Graeme Wood to cricket in this State, including his tenure as our Chief Executive Officer, which was nothing short of exceptional.
"It is a happy coincidence that we welcome Christina from New South Wales on the same day that a former WA great in Simon Katich returns from New South Wales to join the Perth Scorchers.
"Christina will start as soon as possible, having regard to her obligations in New South Wales, and I want to thank Cricket NSW Chairman Dr Harry Harinath and CEO David Gilbert for their assistance to the WACA in our search process and for allowing Christina to accept this opportunity.”

I heard Woody say after he resigned that the next CEO of the WACA should have some experience in property development.
Cant see that on her achievements ....hope she's better than Kath White
