I think X also deserved his spot.

Invers told White last week that he was gone. He at least seems to communicate better than Hildick.

George Bailey’s first match for Australia in any format will be as captain.

so we could shunt ShyT
Actually ShyT would have been a improvement (can't believe I am saying that ), at least he is just out of form.

If we are going to have a non-batting captain, why not ask TGM to make a comeback?

Farkin' sage. Unfortch, as AB mentioned on Inside BJ last night, Warnie had made himself unavailable.
It'd be pretty funny but, if TGM and Hogggggyyyyyyyy!!! both went to the T20 World Cup and we smashed everyone with 2 40+ year olds in the side.

Re: Aust T20 side
Hogg's selection shows the Aus selectors are committed to looking to the future.....
My view is, so what if he's been taking wickets, he announced his international retirement four years ago and Aus should move on. I wonder how much younger spinners like O'Keefe (who hasn't done anything wrong) feel about Hogg's selection.
On this evidence, how far away are Warne and MacGill from an Aus call up??

And I thought David Warner had been anointed as Clarke's successor? Bailey to make his international debut as a captain??? Strange.

He's too busy reinventing Test cricket, Pop Tarts, breathing and 'doing the hustle'.
Re: Aust T20 side
It's a novelty game so they make novelty selections. Why would anyone GAF? It's not like a T20 player is going to go on and be picked for tests
Is it?
Is it?

Aus have yet to get it right with their T20 skipper. Ponting, other than his initial innnings of 98* v Snoozies, was rubbish. Clarke got so bad with the bat that he didn't put the pads on in the latter stages of the T20 WC in the Windies. And ShyT was, well, just Shyte.
I expect George Bailey to follow the pattern.

Didn't Aus talk about using T20 as the first path towards test cricket?

George will do ok. While he did'nt have a great Big Bash, his overall T20 average is quite acceptable.

Happy to agree with you BD. Further, I'm happy that Clarke isn't wasting energy where someone else will do ust as well.
