Home race and all that sort, yet ESS' programme is shit at best.
Since when has Chelsea been a sponsor for Sauber?

Hamilton out on Lap 23. Schumacher ploughs into a Frenchman's arse. Vettel currently leading on Lap 43 out of 61.

Re: Formula One 2012
I've always seen Vettel as title favourite whatever has happened this season. Down to him and Alonso now, McLaren can only play the spoiler role (with perhaps an outside chance of the constructors' title).

Re: Formula One 2012
Winning the title without winning a race would be an interesting possibility, though still very unlikely!
Keke Rosberg once won it with a single race victory, though there were fewer races in those days.

Re: Formula One 2012
Funny how all these debt-ridden European Countries can still hold their Grand Prix, yet the "Envy of the developed World" is not happy at the cost of the race to tax payers.
Most of the drivers hate the Melbourne track. They find it far too boring.

all true, still it probably costs a fair bit more to get the whole circus from wherever to Melbourne than it does to move it from Monza to Monaco

Re: Formula One 2012
Hamilton to join Mercedes, according to reports - not sure if this is a good move for him, no guarantee they will be able to deliver him a car capable of even challenging for titles. The only team that would significantly improve his prospects would be Red Bull, or perhaps Ferrari for the prestige and constant potential, but then he wouldn't want to drive alongside Alonso again or Vettel would he...
Perez rumoured to replace him at McLaren, will Schumi want to drive a Sauber or will he admit defeat and retire again/move to another series perhaps?

Further to beamer's post...
BERLIN: Lewis Hamilton is to leave Formula One team McLaren and join Mercedes in a three-year deal worth $US100 million, British and German media reports said today.
The agreement, expected to be announced later today, could spell the end of the Formula One career of seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher, who is out of contract at Mercedes at the end of the year.
Sources told DPA Mercedes would not be extending Schumacher's contract, although it is unclear whether the German will go back into retirement or seek a new team.

$100 Mill for three years?.....yeah....i could drop my daks & bend over for that.
Re: Formula One 2012
Could be a shrewd move in the long term. I forget the precise details, but I think there's a ruling change about engine manufacturers coming in soon which should benefit the likes of Mercedes and Ferrari, who build their own rather than the likes of McLaren who buy theirs from Toys R Us.
Re: Formula One 2012
Also heard quite a bit about a 5 mill quid wage cut that was offered by Mclaren.

Re: Formula One 2012
Huge drama at the start of the Japan Grand Prix. Alonso out of the race. He didn't make it to the first bend. Webber is now back at the tail of the field having started in second place. Vettel leading & likely to make huge inroads to Alonso's lead in the championship.

Looking that way. The Red Bull is coming together nicely at the business end of the season, while the Ferrari is still lacking - although Massa made it go today.
Pretty boring race after the opening lap shenanigans, to be honest.
Re: Formula One 2012
Romain Grosjean has been labelled a "nutcase" by Mark Webber. He's been involved in seven first lap incidents in 14 races so far this season. Clearly out of his depth and a liability for Formula One.
