Re: The Football Thread - 2011/12 (II)
It all comes back to what was said before. The Champions League is a marathon, not a sprint, and Chelsea have one of the fittest, and best organised sides around. They have always been ugly and cynical, this is simply the culmination of their era of cheating and diving. You only have to look at Monkey's posts to see that this is quietly revered when it is an English club doing the cheating. If they're brown of skin and play on the continent, they're cheating c*nts who should be shot. Credit to Bayern who played a typically gestalt German system. They passed and passed, worked hard for each other and created ... then missed. They're a good team but they're no Borussia Dortmund. They've got a bunch of solid players but Gomez and Robben are over-rated.

To sum it up ... Chelsea frankly probably don't give a rats arse about "how they played".
Fact is that "Big Ears" is now in the Chelsea trophy cabinet and not in Munich.
Listening to Lahm (the Bayern capt) bleat on and on about "football is unfair... we were the better team for 120 minutes " .... give it up FFS and review the entire video. See who lifted the trophy ...
Chelsea played THEIR kinda football which ultimately saw them dunk both Barca and Bayern ... (the alleged best teams in Europe) .... job done.

Is there anything more satifying than being comprehensively outplayed yet still winning - espesh when the opposition is German?

Actually skulls, there is .........
it's seeing false dawn after false dawn following your team, watching them get whupped every couple of years for the better part of twenty years - then going over and giving them the kind of tannings that we took for so long - espesh when the opposition is Australian .
** runs and **

Furry muff, Growls.
My own memories of 1989 after England giving us the rounds of the kitchen in 1985 and 1986-87 have me easily agreeing with that view.

Oh you poor hard done by ockers! having to put up with 2 series defeats on the bounce in the mid 80's!!
Managed to catch this in a pub where i was staying in the shetlands - farking plastic fans get everywhere I tell thee!
I think you have to hand it to Chelsea whatever you think of how they played. They were in Bayerns own stadium with a bit of a makeshift team with a temporary manager. If you are a strong solid team with determination who doesn't give in you just never know on the day. They got uber-lucky but good luck to em'.
Really got to pis$ the Arse & Yids fans off that Chelski won the big cup before they have!

Back to London? It's never been there before, except to be presented to overseas winners at Wembley finals I guess...Merlin wrote:Really got to pis$ the Arse & Yids fans off that Chelski won the big cup before they have!

He wants to play behind Danny Graham I heard.
He thinks Wales is closer culturally to Belgium while England is more reminiscent to France.

He's carried on like an utter prick over this transfer.
So he'll be a perfect fit for Man United.
Shit hot talent, though. It'll be great to have him in the PL - for two years until he touts himself for a move to Real Madrid or Barca.
Re: The Football Thread - 2011/12 (II)
Player power is killing the football world. I don't remember personally, but I've read there was a time when teams used to pick you to play for them, not the other way around.
Without wanting to sound dramatic, any team that gets Hazard will be handing over their dignity and power to a 21 year old guy with a funny surname.
