He looks like he's no stranger to good bowling.
As for Strauss, he looked really good. Still, he'll be out tomorrow before he's got 6 runs.
KP looks in ominously good touch too.
Re: England v West Indies, 2nd Test, Trent Bridge, 25-29 May, 2012
Last occasion in Tests I can discover when both captains have completed centuries on the same day was 11 July 1955 on the 4th day of the 3rd Test between England and South Africa at Old Trafford when the South African captain, Jackie McGlew, went from 89* to 104* in taking South Africa's 1st innings from 482-7 to 521-8d and then the England captain, Peter May, made 117 out of England's close of play score of 250-4.
South Africa went on to beat England by 3 wickets the following day to register their first victory in the series with England having won the first two matches. England went on to win the series 3-2.

It must be hard for him, trying to bowl with deformed pincers for hands, or whatever bullshit excuse they were going on about in defence of leaving him out of the Lord's Test.
He's well elbowy too. But that seems to be all the rage these days and no-one gives a hoot.
Re: England v West Indies, 2nd Test, Trent Bridge, 25-29 May, 2012
Good day for England, WI still in it IF they can keep the score with 50 of their total but England will be looking to go big in this innings (after Strauss is out first thing in the morning of course)
Shillingford has been dissapointing but he looked good against Aus, certainly one of the better WI spinners i've seen. You're allowed to be crap now and again.

Well played to Darren Jammy, for his hundred. Which was jammy. As f*ck.
And nicely done, captain caution - back to back tons, can't be bad. Not that I saw the money shot as I flicked over to watch a belter of a penalty shoot out in the League One play off final.
Bizarre game that cricket is, people will look at the numbers and think Tim Bresnan bowled better than Jimmy Anderson and Ravi Rampaul. Stupid sport, as I've always said.
Early wicket or two tomorrow, and the Windies could escape the innings with just a small deficit - but it's all looking a bit ominous. Surely Strauss will break his miserable encore hoodoo. And KP looks like he's batting with a purpose (probably to stick it to Nick Knight) and has been rather sensible. For him.
I saw Jimmy Anderson padded up in the dressing room at the close. You Malteser Balled little f*ckwhippet, Belf.

Will flat pitches be the trend for the whole summer? Can't see there being too many green tops with South Africa arriving.

3rd Test is at Edgbaston which should be easier than this one with shorter boundaries. We play the Saffies at The Oval, Headingley (which should suit the Saffies) and Lord's.
For all the talk surrounding Tim "Lucky Charm" Bresnan if we don't include Finn and/or Onions we're liable to get tonked. De Villiers, in particular, will think all his Christmases have come at once when he sees Bresnan running in at him.

Edgbaston's usually pretty flat. But it deteriorates and tends to be a result ground.
I don't know where the SA Tests are. Lord's, probably, for one. And that's the flattest piece of crap in the world.
Re: England v West Indies, 2nd Test, Trent Bridge, 25-29 May, 2012
All English test pitches are decent batting wickets, it's all about the overhead conditions innit?

Know you only like reading your own posts, Dello, and have probably got me on "ignore" but information re Saffie Tests in my post immediately above yours. Information again - 1st Test - Oval, 2nd Test - Headingley, 3rd Test - Lord's.

Well done to Straws on tons in consecutive Tests. KP looks good for a big one as well. More pain for the Windies. Sloppy discipline with the no-ball line and pretty sloppy in the field as well.

Any danger of England producing a decent test wicket? When both Strauss and Sammy reach tons on the same day you know batting wasn't too challenging. Seems test tons come quite cheaply these days.

Even the lamented Knight would probably score runs in this context.

The pitches in the Windies were slow, much harder to bat on and certainly more conducive to spin. The pitches in this series don't offer too much to the bowlers and once the new ball has dulled batting isn't much of a challenge. In the Caribbean batsmen had to work hard for their runs.

Sammy must be ruing chucking away his hand. There was 150 for the taking. 370 will look tiny after England are done. Innings defeat looming for Ganjas.

I think you probably mean lamentable. No-one has been weeping for him.

Evidently The Oval, then Leeds and I know that the last one is at Lord's on 16th August because the guide mentioned damage to the outfield due to the archery (Olympics) and he mentioned that date. With so many venues in England you wonder why they give Lord's two tests each year when it serves up flat decks on a highly regular basis. Would be good if they served up raging greentops for the Saffer series though so that we could see some bowlers' tests.

So, with the might Belf still in the sheds, Engulund MUST be good for 600+ here, shirley?

I meant Pie-shops of the eating kind actually
Agree about KP, but he has a talent for getting out when it's all laid out out for him with pearl-handled knobs on.

We've got two: Old Trafford(which I consider amongst the greatest in the world) and Chester-le-Street(don't you f*cking argue with me).
But they don't get any Tests.

Aye, both batsmen are bad overnight batsmen - we must all know about Strauss now (overnight centurion 6 times, never added more than 6 to his total) but I heard a stat about KP last night, but I was drunk. Rest assured, it was about him being a bad overnight batsman.

Ravi Rampaul - the Samit Patel of Windian Cricket, only with talent.

He's got a bit of timber on him... hasn't seemed to affect his stamina so far, though. Good bowler.
Re: England v West Indies, 2nd Test, Trent Bridge, 25-29 May, 2012
Good ball by Rampaul to dismiss KP.
