Evidently he was texting AB and Steyn during the Leeds test with less than complimentary comments about Flower and Strauss.

Gosh he can certainly court some controversy.

As i have said previously, social media is a millstone around the necks of celebrities. Its a pity they are too vacuous to realise it.

To many it will be difficult to argue a case for life without Pietersen when he bats as he did in the last Test, though he did get out to the second ball of the penultimate day when England most needed his brilliance to set up a winning position.

Where was the question of winning position without his innings? Would've been better if Bell showed a ball rather than hiding it under the canopy of a rainforest as dense as Pietersen's ego. And Andrew Strauss belongs in the Natural history museum.

But closer scrutiny reveals that the Test team have flourished without him before, winning the 2009 Ashes after he played in just two of the Tests. The 50-over side have also reached the top of the rankings in his absence, which has given many of the players to believe that success is possible without him.

50 over rankings mean something? Even then, where'd they be without Pietersen's 2 hundreds against Pakistan.

How would anyone know what Pietersen texted to anyone? In any case, why would he not be allowed to share a private opinion in private with whoever he wanted?

Stuart Broad claims that phones are "confiscated" at 8am and handed back at 8pm on match days, so it's not even like he could've been texting during the game.

According to this it wasn't during play. He also allegedly muttered words in Afrikaans after being asked to move away from the South Africans and practise with the English.

kp sends texts to ab and steyn. the only way the media would know about them is if one or more of the 3 told them

Now Pietersen stages his own interview, posts it on youtube, announcing his un-retirement from all forms of cricket.

No seriously. Because it'll be a long time before England get a genius bat like him. Pity he's loonytoons. Or, maybe it's not a pity, maybe it's thanks for the entertainment.

Well, it's become a soap opera and the question for the ECB and selectors is how long they can allow it to run. Making peace in a bizarre way will probably see him invlolved next week and perhaps a new central contract, but who knows how long that truce will last, especially once Flower and Strauss step aside if he's still in the fold by then.

He's been the undisputed "box office" player in the side, certainly since Flintoff retired, and the one man you would back to turn a Test match around. He knows that more than anyone which is why he's been able to hold them to ransom, but there has to be a breaking point and they have come pretty close to that this season.

Warnie has been very quiet on the controversial text front, so KP thought he'd step up.
