England squad delayed after KP texts

If England keep losing, and KP keeps demolishing County attacks, a truce will surely be reached.

I'd agree that it's unlikely Kev would impart any ingenious new technical insights to his supposed opponents.

But - supposing there is any truth in the unpublished texts (KP has pointedly denied nothing, which is the point on which he was dropped) -

It's the symbolism of secretly cosying up with the other side while undermining your own - and the gesture of disrespect of doos, poes, naai, piel or whatever it might have been - that shatters any trust, and poisons the team atmosphere.

Kev might pass it off as a joke or whatever, but the problem is:

What confidence can you have in a guy who gets up to that sort of 'prank'? What might he choose to do next? What direction is he pulling in?

If it's in any way true, I wouldn't have him near any side.

As well as stuffing his Test career, he's killed any chance he might have had of a career in coaching or radio. Looks like the Symonds route for him ... a few IPL years to bloat up on, then sink in a pool of alcohol.

It was also reported by Mike Brearley in an article today that he was seen drinking at a Chelsea wine bar with the SA players the night they were celebrating their first test victory.

He allegedly used an Afrikaans swear word the slang meaning of which is dumb c@@@!

It's just as well Trott is in the side (Strauss and Prior too, but they are much more obviously "English", despite place of birth), or all the people who were against KP playing for England just because "he wasn't really English" would be on the rampage.
