Perhaps the reason why there are so many Aussie players are over here is that they appreciate that a season in county cricket may well be worth 2 or 3 seasons in their own domestic competition.

Oh yeah, Cowan's done good. Small sample size though. It's a small sample size because he missed out on the toughest part of the season.

Aye, it's a difficult one to judge. One of my problems with Chris Rogers when at Northants was that he'd be Bradmanesque when the sun was out, but early season he'd be a walking wicket. Conclusion: Onions' 9/67 hardly wrecks CC's cred - not when the overseas FTBs have already wrecked it.

Worcs get slightly the better of the match @ New Road Aquatic Centre, while Surrey and Durrey both win.

Lancs' Long Goodbye has been lasting all season .....

Do you suppose you would have got much more play anywhere else in the west of the country Pete?

Fark me sideways - a Manc complaining about wet weather. The joke's wearing a bit thin.

It was just a witticism, Baz.

And how very dare you call me a Manc!

Between Cumbria and East Lancs ~ haven't lived there for ages either.

As regards curtailment, I think most other grounds played to a finish, Worcs and Lancs must have lost 150-180 potential overs. (All Day 1 and most of Day 3 lost, Day 4 ended early because there as nowhere for it to go.)

The extent to which it was a witticism is simply that on present form, Lancs would no doubt have gained 4 pts less than they did through the shortened match.

You're probably right about the result because we gave your boys a decent shellacking last year at NR. As it is, we're bottom and look favourites for the drop, but then I could have said the same thing this time last year.

You have a game in hand over the others.

But aren't two relegated in any case? Or have they changed the regs again?

We had two games in hand at one point. The batsmen need to come to the party or we are fooked.

Down at West End,
meanwhile, Kevin Pietersen has just received a first-baller for Surrey
against Hampshire, bowled by slow left-armer Liam Dawson (the second
time that has happened this season too). Suspect the locals might have
enjoyed that...

Shocked

They've very recently lost twice by not being able to defend 320/350 in under a day. I use WGAF a lot, but seriously - who gives a f*ck?

Andrew Hall? I bet he gives a very big f*ck. He's the skipper after all, isn't he?

And Robert Newton. He must give a monstrous f*ck. It's not his fault the bowlers can't bowl to defend totals. He hits them to all parts. Scores 40s, 50s ...

I was going to say David Capel, he will definitely be giving an enormous f*ck.

Till I remembered he'd been f*cked off out it.

Newton is back where he should be. In the middle order. To ask him to open and block just shows the lack of depth in our squad. #s 3, 4 and 5 are as aesthetically pleasing as a spectator could wish for, IMO. The rest of the team have ruined any enjoyment that could be taken from watching those three.

It's David Ripley now. And Allan Lamb isn't happy about it.

I expect this thread to have double the postings of recent times until the Champs are decided...unless the Yorkies or Glamorgan win the champs, English FB'ers will at least be able to celebrate some Pomgolian cricket wins
