Re: County Season 2012 (II)
I saw Lyon got him out first innings and thought hmmmmm. Yeah.
As for Rashid - two of those wickets were good ones. Maybe one.

MitchJo veers from going at 1.5 an over in the first innings to 6s in the second.

Johnny B gone for 139.
England 319 ahead with five wickets in hand. Final day. Kieswetter to have a bash and then put them in?

Toby Roland-Jones. Why hasn't he attracted the attention of the England selectors? Swings it at around 85 mph and has an excellent first class record. Surely he's worth a Lions spot at least?

... and with a cracking poncey name like that, he's a shoo-in for FEC. Or at least he was, until he was Trevved.

I think he's on the cusp. Pretty sure he's been through the Academy's doors before (perhaps unofficially).
He's Stuart Clark-ish. Tall, hits a length, reasonable nip.
Whether he's anywhere near as good is debatable. Takes plenty of tonk in the L/O formats.
Re: County Season 2012 (II)
Clark was also a reasonably poor limited overs bowler, but in recent times, it seems that a lot of the genuinely classy fast bowlers around the World (Steyn, Anderson, Tremlett etc) tend to get a bit of tap in limited overs cricket. Top of off stump bowling is as deadly as ever in tests, but gets smacked around in the joke stuff.

Yeah, me too. Primarily as the only times I've seen him are in television one-day games. Where he seems to be a bit rhubarb.
Looks like he's got the tools to do well though.
Re: County Season 2012 (II)
Woakes and Harris??? What a dobberific opening pair the Lions have these days. Mirroring the test side.

Meaker and Coles also in the attack, so there's some reasonable heat. Benny Stokes is back in the side too - reckon he bowls quicker than Woakes and Harris.
Re: County Season 2012 (II)
No one's been able to bat at Chester le Street this season. I think Stokes, despite averaging only late 20s this year, might still be their highest run scorer.

Probably not. But he's the closest we have to the real deal as far as all rounders are concerned.

Half century to Phil Hughes. This is a worry.

Please tell me the Lions haven't DROPPED Simon Kerrigan? He took a 5fer in the last 'test'. He must be injured, surely?

He did SFA in the Oz A second innings.
Besides which, Lancs are in the mire and starting one of their last matches tomorrow, so there's the outside possibility he's been 'pulled'?

Re: County Season 2012 (II)
Most interesting thing in that scoreboard is the position Hughes batted at ... always thought his only hope of an international career was to come in down the list, rather than opening; perhaps he too has decided on this approach now. He could make a lot of runs quickly at number 6, I think. But he's not an opener's arsehole.

Re: County Season 2012 (II)
A washed-out day at New Road probably means (Worcs Central being what it is) the match will be abandoned without a ball being bowled.
Which means another step towards the trapdoor for Lancs ....!
