Well, that was the double-take element.
But it's from 1937, to be exact.

Bloody hell, it takes 10x as long to set em up as knock em down - glad I don't work in a bowling alley!

Maybe young Richard played a part in the proceedings.

Some are (obviously the old portrait ones in particular), either a few I have, or else eBay, but more are from my books, a few from the further-flung internet.

That's what I thought - right down to the Roman-type nose. A bit eerie.
Mind you, the older guy had the more uneven ears. Also odd.
Now all we need is for Root to get that matching 364.

Not with that haircut he didn't.
Or those eyes.

Another quickie, no pics this time:
What do Matthew Hoggard, Raymond Illingworth and Len Hutton all have in common with the charity event Children in Need?

The triple, or the resemblance of heads?

That's alphabetically ingenious, but maybe a bit less random than that.

Got it.
All three cricketere born (and originally associated with the local cricket club) in the comfortable Western suburb of Leeds, West Yorks.
The bear emblem of the charity event raising money to help seriously ill and deprived children, with a spotted hanky over one eye, happens also to be called Pudsey. I don't know why.

An arts student on a traineeship was asked to come up with a logo. When asked to name the bear it was required that a hard consonant was necessary for the bear's name. She was born in Pudsey. Go figure.

I bet 110 wasn't as 'unflappable' as young Nephew when he'd nicked off for the 8th time in the series - did you see his face? Model of calm.
Re: Trivia & Quizzia 2013 (an occasional series, by whoever wishes)
I read that as 'unfoppable'.
@Bradders. Well, that would explain it. And needs little figuring. Did you lift that off a quick wiki, or is Children in Need known/done in Aus?

Well I'd like to say it was because I used to holiday in Yorkshire as a kid, which I did (reluctantly), but that was long before Pudsley. It's more a case of knowing of the lady in a "danced with a man who....." sort of way. I thought the story was apocryphal until then.

Re: Trivia & Quizzia 2013 (an occasional series, by whoever wishes)
Was at some god awful party, of which the only redeeming feature was the top shelf booze and the eminently smashable women. However when it resorted to small talk about a bear I was only vaguely familiar with, the smashability of the women and quality of the hootch became less appealing and I buggered off to a mate's place to play cards and drink bundy.
Got any more pics tucked away so as one might while away the hot summer night?
