"They (ICC) have not yet considered my medical reports, and once they do it I am sure there should be no problems. There's a bend in my arm, and if someone has a medical problem he can't do much about it."
Hmmm, complete misunderstanding of ICC rule there Saeed. It's not the bend in your arm that's the problem.

The world's spinning stocks would have been fairly low around 1990.

A glance at the top three shows perhaps the biggest change in world cricket since then, along with the obvious absence of South Africa at the time.

Re: Vaughan trolling Ajmal
Forgot what he actually bowled in fact, only really remember his later career when he was mainly a batsman so didn't really occur to me as a spinner when I looked down that list... now added to the highlighted ones anyway! Still managed to rank in the top 20 bowlers even though I think he was an opening batsman at that point. I suppose we didn't see that much of India in those days.

I think Shastri is the only bowler to have taken more than 100 Test wickets at a worse average than Ashley Giles. Not sure what my point is here I just like that stat.

More than 100 embee, more than. But yeah, point conceded, it's Carl Hooper that tops that particular list not Shastri.

To be fair, Hooper and Boje were reallly just in the team to keep it tight while their pace bowlers had a rest.

They (all non Banglas) could all score big, whereas an Ashley Giles 50 was as rare as can be - 4 in 54 Tests.

Boje made 4 in 43, average 25 (to Giles's 21) so not that much different really. Obviously Hooper and (later career) Shastri were batting all-rounders/batsmen who bowled.Brass Monkey wrote:They (all non Banglas) could all score big, whereas an Ashley Giles 50 was as rare as can be - 4 in 54 Tests.
I think things have moved on since even a decade ago, a bowling all-rounder is probably expected to average pushing 30 with the bat now and your number 9 and maybe even 10 need to average 20+ and chip in with the odd fifty.

No, Bodge was slighly better... he didn't win the 2005 Ashes though, and doesn't have an MBE...

Don't get me wrong, we all love Ashley. After blagging a Test career, a selector career and a coaching career, he's now blagging a media career. What sort of person wouldn't love him?

Looking at the stats they are both the same age. I thought Boje might have sneaked in a test ton but got confused with his ODI stats.
