Re: AFL 2014
Hawks look just that little bit classier. They are dominating the ruck. Port can't win without possession.

Re: AFL 2014
So Port's inaccuracy in the first came back to bite them as poor kicking often does. They will be kicking themselves. Swans will be clear favourites now, the only query being that after a couple of weeks off they had a soft match.
Hawks probably on the right end of the umpiring calls in the heat of battle.

Re: AFL 2014
With a couple of memorable exceptions, the team with the 'softer' prelim final has generally won the GF ever since there have been two prelims.

Re: AFL 2014
Geez, I gave it away when the lead blew out to 29 points mid last quarter. Maybe that's why Port came back to get within a smother of a win!!!

Port is renowned for its great fitness but its bench numbers were down.
Sydney has an extra day to recover so Hawks could be up against it.

It's taken 23 rounds and three weeks of finals for the AFL to work out what every one else did the moment Buddy said he was moving to Sydney

Sydney look the better team regardless. Just a question of whether they can bring their Sydney game to the MCG.
Couple of very tough calls against Port towards the end of that match; may have influenced the final scoreline.

Yes a tad unlucky, the Hodge holding the ball one such example.
Of course the umpires' brief this week would have been to ensure a Buddy v. Hawks match.

He has the advantage of being by far the best player and most conspicuous vote-winner in a side that did well during the rostered games. Ablett would most likely have won in a full season.

Still think even missing the last part of the season GAblett will get over the line with 25 votes.

Re: AFL 2014
Kennedy and Selwood have to be the favourites given their consistency and the fact that their teams won most games.
Ablett probably will lead for quite some time. Buddy might go against the trend and poll well.
The upshot of it all is that it will be a midfielder though. Anyone in another position won't stand a chance given how the umpires seem to vote these days. Ditto the journos.

Because a midfielder winning will be the final outcome and no matter how much we speculate or discuss that will be the reality.
