Re: English Domestic Season 2016
linky
A few Australians going around as usual - mostly filling their wallets pre-retirement, 'benefit-season' stuff, but Jackson Bird and Cameron Bancroft are there as well.

Some of thee early season games seem terribly unevenly matched; eg Nottinghamshire v Cambridge.
Do the stats count as FC?

Yep . Cambridge Uni - doing the impossible and cheaping English FC cricket.
Before last week there had only been 4 FC matches in England where a side had lost by 500+ runs. Now there are 6.

133 in the end, and at a handy strike rate too. Brought up his ton with a 6.
You both forgot their sister, Wanda.

Not so sure about that - he had a few games for our seconds a while back and didn't pull up any trees.

Henry wrote:It doesn't mean a lot but Steve Davies made a hundred in each innings against Loughborough. If only he was still keeping he'd be a big chance for a test call up. Although Iron gloves Jonny looks like being persisted with. Even as a specialist batsman he might be able to sneak into the top six.
Check out his interview on Cricinfo. He's hinting that he wants to keep again and might have to leave Surrey to do so. Not sure where he would go, but Warwickshire might be a decent bet as I think Ambrose's contract is up this year.

A lot of your promising youngsters who could desperately use the experience of a season of County cricket (Travis Head, Nic Maddinson etc) are instead lining their pockets in the IPL.
But yeah, their (and Australian cricket's) loss. Good on Bancroft and his 'team' for securing a County deal. It can only make him a better player.
Go back 20 years and pretty much ALL of Australia's most promising young batsmen were playing County cricket- Bevan, Hayden, Langer, Lehmann, Law, Martyn....and they were scoring shitloads of runs as well.

Re: English Domestic Season 2016
goes back more than 20 years, Trev
Greg Chappell, Kerry O'Keeffe, Graham McKenzie etc all played a fair bit of county cricket; and plenty of others (Ian Chappell, Lillee, Massie etc) all gained experience in English (or Scottish, in Massie's case) conditions through League attachments.
Even Bruce Francis chavved it up at Essex for a few years.

Keith Barker eh. Never really gets talked about in terms of an England call up, but he's never looked too shabby whenever I've seen him. Not express but quick enough (probably 3-4mph quicker than Willey) and can bat.

Not started altogether well for Dello's team, as you two indicate.
Avoided the drop by a whisker last term. For what?, is the immediate thought.

Ben Duckett's first double, at a really good rate. Proud of the pint-sized drink-driver!

Yeah man! He did - nuggety little chap with a decent tonk on him. Got some high gears for FC cricket.

282* - I'd be tempted to give him the chance of a triple, given the RSP for most of the last session, 2 days with 20 wickets to take...Hmm.
