FFS how did Stoinis get a recall?
Good to see Meredith, Philippe & Sams get a chance.
realistically who are our next so-called all-rounders after Stoinis and Mitch Marsh?
Do we need allrounders?
Re: Current International One Day Cricket
in T20 you just need sloggers; if they can bowl a hoop downhill that's a bonus

It helps to have multiple bowling options and a tail that doesn’t start at 7.

Don't know if we need all rounders in Test unless they possess high order skills in both disciplines.
Langer likes his Wozzies - Cartwright, Marsh, Agar and Stoinis. Seems probable, if he gets fit, that Green will be the next off the line.

Re: Current International One Day Cricket
Well, the great Aussie side of the ‘90s and ‘00s never had a genuine batting/bowling all-rounder, and neither did WI of the ‘70s/‘80s.
I think the more world-class players you have in a single discipline, the less you need them, as far as Test cricket goes. But if you’re struggling for great individuals, there’s more value in having players with more than one skill. Although not to the extent of picking players who don’t contribute in any department!

Roy out of the T20s with Pakistan due to a side strain. Chance for Banton to step up.

Looks like another washout is likely to start this series, with rain in Manchester unlikely to clear in time.
Ironically, if we’d been able to have cricket in April and May this year it would have been almost completely uninterrupted. May was the sunniest month on record in the UK. It’s like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife...

Well, despite the forecast we have a game on. Jonny B gone first over, big chance for Pato and AC to further their causes.

The weather takes the honours in the end, but not before young Banton had made a statement knock.

Re: Current International One Day Cricket
A further restriction on ball maintenance aimed at reducing any possible risk of the coronavirus being spread, Australia's players have been told to not use sweat from their head, face or neck during their six white-ball matches against England next month.
It means the sight of an Australian player lifting his shirt and gathering sweat from his back or stomach will be a common occurrence in the three T20s and three one-dayers.
It's believed the change is not an official ICC rule but based on medical advice from Cricket Australia to its players.

Players may be chosen for their sweating ability at this rate!

I was going to say that our backup seam attack fluffed their lines today, but then the batsmen made pretty short work of chasing 195. Add Stokes, Buttler, Roy, Woakes, Root, Archer and Wood to this side and it’s looking quite formidable, with a few tricky selection decisions!

Flat deck and small boundaries??
Clearly a batter's game. Well done England.

Average sized boundaries and indifferent bowling. However, Morgan could hit it with a matchstick currently.

Re: Current International One Day Cricket
A rollercoaster game ends in Pakistan squaring the series... young Haider and old Hafeez starred with the bat for them, Banton impressed again for us (other than running out his captain) and Mo almost pulled it out of the bag before a superb penultimate over from Wahab swung it their way. And even when Tom Curran needed to hit the last two balls of the match for six, he managed to successfully dispatch the first one before a good yorker put paid to hopes of a miracle finish!

I see Shrapnel and Gilly II did well overnight in the inter-squad warm-up. Both made tons.
