They claim "football" is the Aussie exclusive game of AFL. The easy fix has always been "football" is to discuss "soccer", and Rugby League, Rugby Union, and AFL have their own threads.

Football as a stand-alone term is played with a round ball, any other code requires the addition of the name of a country, or a town in Warwickshire where a posh boy deliberately handballed it, in order to distinguish it.

Nonsense. the Australian game is called 'football'. "AFL" is just the premier comp.

Well yes, the ESL episode is what’s brought it to a head, with Joel Glazer’s ringleader status and hollow apology, but it’s been building since they took over many years ago. The debt, the motivation of the owners, the disconnect from the fans, and obviously the relative drying up of success once Ferguson was no longer there to paper over the cracks.

I just watched a replay of the Real Madrid v Sevilla game. After 11 minutes, Real Madrid scored but the goal was disallowed by VAR because of offside. However, the commentators didn't realise & spent the next ten minutes telling us that RM was leading 1-0 & then when Sevilla scored, they said that was the equaliser. It was probably 5 minutes later before they finally discovered the mistake. I found it amusing.

VAR is properly the work of the devil.
