Re: Current International One Day Cricket
Fairish start for Aus. GCS and Blow threw their hands away.
Marnus looking good & Smudge steady. Hopefully we push for 300.
Nice day/night for it. Light breeze, about 20C. Decent view from the Members Stand (1st time ever thanks to a relly).

Too many dot balls.
300 is barely par.

Have only just caught up with the appointment of Hazlewood as captain for this match. Future trivia question!

so you get a baggy green AND a captaincy badge in your brown paper bag, if you're from NSW. good to know.

Both looked good, beams. Seemed to be doing it easy until a close lbw shout went against Vince.
Billings looked set for a ton until he yorked himself v Zampa. He looks a quality player.
Anywho, it was a thoroughly enjoyable day at the cricket, and after 22 years of "knowing" JGK via various forums, we finally got to meet in person, in front of the Richie statue at the SCG!!

Neither took the opportunity to go on and really make a statement though, which perhaps sums up why they’ve both remained fringe players into their 30s.

8th 200+ opening stand for Aus in ODIs. Warner has been involved in 4 of them.

Warner holes out with Aus at 269, him at 105.
He and Head now hold the top 2 spots for opening stands in JAMODIs for Aus.
Meanwhile Head is flying on 152*.

Head doesn't add, flailing away at pie-thrower Stone. Fair knock.

Warner and Head's 269 is the 9th highest opening stand of all time in ODIs.

Pretty imposing 355 off 48 by Aus, a record score at the MCG.

And an “already on the plane” batting effort in response. With the Test players and some T20WC winners absent, nobody’s really made a statement in this series and one or two will have the NTPFEA stamp hovering above their names.

Re: Current International One Day Cricket
Aye, heartily agree, but for the whole 3 match series, beams.
And now they head to Pakistan, when they clearly just want to go home and go to pub to celebrate the T20 WC win (which they should've been allowed to). Ugh.
Meanwhile, they suffer their worst ever ODI game loss - by 221 runs.

Well, I think a Test series is a bit different, and not that much overlap with the T20 side or certainly the one that played here.skully wrote:Aye, heartily agree, but for the whole 3 match series, beams.

Vince has been a great disappointment - lots of elite talent and technique. Just unable to get his head right.

Wouldn't be the worse decision, Nerky, but it would probably just mean Ooze being shunted to 5.
Ooze is more technically sound than Blow, so prob should stay up the top of the order.

To be fair, he copped a couple of "painful blows" in that innings. Loved skull's comment after the second - "he's now James Wince".

Good Lord. The Bangers won the 2nd ODI v India in Mirpir yesty, after batting first and being 6-69. Then out comes no. 8, Mehidy Miraz and makes an unbeaten 100 off 83 balls and adds 148 with Mahmudullah, then another unbroken 54 with no. 9 Nasum Ahmed to set up a winning score of 7-271.
The Bangles also won the 1st ODI in this series.
