Buttler keeps his job for now. To my mind, he was at as culpable as Mott for the shiteshow that has been our white ball cricket for the last 10 months.

Marcus Trescothick will coach England in the forthcoming white ball games against Oz.
There's no role for Flintoff who, according to one report, did not "gel" with Buttler in the T20 WC.
IMO, Buttler is lucky to hang on to the captaincy. Eoin Morgan he ain't.

How England must wish Trescothick - now well enough to tour and coach - had sorted out his old mental demons earlier.

His career stats may well have been close to Chef's and Cook might still be playing given that he would have had a later start to his career.

Re: Current International One Day Cricket
The same could be said about Trott who i think now coaches Afghanistan.
Anyway teams for the mini ashes are announced. Bit surprised Smith doesnt make both teams, but i assume he will be playing as a batter only. Never seen Bethel or Mousley play but clearly England are looking for successor to Moeen. Bethel was born in Barbados but got a scholarship to Rugby in 2017. Carse returns after his ban, Mahmood after injury, and Hull and Turner make both teams although how many of these quicks will still be fit by 9/11 is anyones guess. Meanwhile Jordan, Moeen and Bairstow all wave bye bye.
England T20 squad to play Australia: Jos Buttler (Lancashire, captain), Jofra Archer (Sussex), Jacob Bethell (Warwickshire), Brydon Carse (Durham), Jordan Cox (Essex), Sam Curran (Surrey), Josh Hull (Leicestershire), Will Jacks (Surrey), Liam Livingstone (Lancashire), Saqib Mahmood (Lancashire), Dan Mousley (Warwickshire), Adil Rashid (Yorkshire), Phil Salt (Lancashire), Reece Topley (Surrey), John Turner (Hampshire)
England ODI squad: Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer, Gus Atkinson (Surrey), Jacob Bethell, Harry Brook (Yorkshire), Brydon Carse, Ben Duckett (Nottinghamshire), Josh Hull, Will Jacks, Matthew Potts (Durham), Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Jamie Smith (Surrey), Reece Topley, John Turner

Re: Current International One Day Cricket
When I was living in UK in the mid 70s I adopted Hampshire as my county team, and their no 3 bat, who made a ton v the touring Aussies in 1972 and was a bit stiff to never get an England look-in, was a guy called David Turner. Is this John Turner any relation?

I would have liked to watch that match! It was remarkable for the Australians’ 4th innings chase which featured a rollicking 176 from Graeme Watson (and a dozen overs bowled by Gordon Greenidge!!)

Not as far as I am aware. I think John Turner is South African by birth.
I remember David Turner, he was probably right to feel agrieved about not being picked for England. Worcestershire's Alan Ormrod was of the same vintage and was as equally unlucky.

One wonders what impact THAT Lord's incident had on him. He's never been the same since.
At least he gets to avoid the inevitable hammering he would have received from Aus fans during Ashes 25-26.

Connolly is
was U19 captain two U19WCs ago
Played a match winning cameo in the Big Bash final two seasons ago

he went to the same school my daughter goes to ...Belridge Secondary College ....where he is the star graduate of their cricket specialist program
is a powerful striker of the ball and has all the skill in the world ....just needs to find the application

Brendon McCullum has been appointed England white ball coach. He'll still be doing the test team job as well.

Tresco in charge til next year cos of the schedule which requires test and odi/t20 teams to be in diff continents about the same time. theyll have to make sure the schedule doesnt clash in future cos I dont see how Baz can be at every game, maybe do it over Zoom. My major worry with this is that it dilutes attention from his main focus which should be the test team.

20.4.2.5 the striker is not ready for the delivery of the ball and, if the ball is delivered, makes no attempt to play it. Provided the umpire is satisfied that the striker had adequate reason for not being ready, the ball shall not count as one of the over.
