Re: Indian Board President's XI v Aus
if australia dont play krezja who will they play. mcgain is out. i doubt they will play an all-pace attack and let clarke (and clark) do all the slow bowling, too risky. so he is playing whether they like it or not and ponting is giving him as much practice as possible

At Bangalore they might risk all pace and wait until Casson flies in.

Would be funny if he got spanked by the BP XI and took wickets against the Indian Test players.

I'm a genius. If the world was fair, I'd have been appointed chief selector.
BTW, I hope Virat is given another season in Ranji before they start considering him for a place in the team. The last thing we need is for him to go the Raina way.

Has Casson been already named as a substitute to fly to India?

BTW
This is MORE than a full strength bowling attack for AUS because they are playing 5 pure bowlers something they can't afford to do in the test match.

To be fair to the batsmen who played in Irani cup match, this pitch is very true and conducive to strokeplay.
Top innings from Rohit and Kohi though.

Well Rohit is now SURELY the next in line for a middle order spot in the test team.
Imo Rohit not being picked for the test side but scoring a century in this game is the best possible result for India, as the likes of Dravid, Ganguly, and Laxman will now know that they MUST perform in the first 2 tests otherwise a young batsman is ready and waiting to replace them. It might help them raise a gear or two.

I wonder if some Indian fans are dissapointed that guys like Rohit and Virat are displaying their wares. I mean the ones who were predicting a big decline in Indian Cricket when the overdue big names get replaced.

Rohit and Kohli still have along way to go, as was shown when they got out so soon after reaching their hundreds.
Rohit though has the talent to be a bit special. He has the grace and timing of Laxman, but unlike Laxman, he also has an ability to hit the ball in the air succesfully.

He is fit as a fiddle and a terrific fielder. All these things should come into the makeup for selectoin in future.

There's talk that Clarke might play as the only spinner and we might use Siddle as an extra seamer. Remember that if Watson plays, he becomes an extra seamer.

Imo Watson's bowling should not even come into consideration when selecting the Aus side. They should view him as a specialist batsman who bowls a bit. His bowling is no better than Greg Blewett's used to be.

I would still play the spinner+ watson.

Fastest ball Lee has bowled in EITHER of the 2 days was clocked at mere 144 KPH. A few of the balls barely carried to the keeper.
He will need to bowl a lot faster than this in the test series.

Lee's lost half a yard of pace in the last year. Ironically, his bowling has improved in the same period.

I thought Lee bowled very fast on the tour of WI...i remember he made the best test batsman in the world(CPaul) drop like a stone with one of his vicious bouncers.

Re: Indian Board President's XI v Aus
I must say that the Indians are at least giving the Aussies some good practice by preparing a typical Indian wicket because i remember when the Poms came to PAK in 05 PCB dished a green top for the practice game(Asif got a 7 fer). I thought that was quite a cheap act by our board.

Why on earth should he waste his energy bowling the fastest deliveries in a warm up? Still he has barely bowled below 137 apart from his slower deliveries and his fastest was over 146 today.
