Wtf? I like Cummins and think he has a great future but how can he be considered a great now? And Starc, huh?

Sorry, inside joke. Henry, formerly Trevor Mudge, has an unparalleled record of picking young players detined for stardom. Virtually every one of them has disappeared into oblivion as soon as he mentions them.
Hence a player gets "trevved"

Ah. Had heard the term a few times so was wondering.
At least one of Patto, Cummins and Starc will be trevved imo.

Aye, Trev's a real career killer. The worst thing is, the player who he Trevs only has to have got a domestic hundred / 5fer and Trev's on here screaming his heart out whilst heavily drunk on cock-blocking Chardonnay.

So you've lumped current greats in with potential but without making it clear? I certainly wouldn't lump Starc in the same group as Tendulkar or Steyn, ever.

Henry wrote:I'd go with-
Certain all time greats-
Tendulkar (Ind)
Muralitharan (Sl)
Kallis (RSA)
Dravid (Ind)
Ponting (Aus)
Almost great if not already-
Steyn (RSA)
Sangakkara (SL)
Sehwag (Ind)
Pietersen (Eng)
M.Jayawardene (SL)
Ntini (RSA)
G.Smith (RSA)
Chanderpaul (WI)
Could be great in 5-10 years-
Duminy (RSA) UNDECIDED....COULD STILL BE IF THAT ACHILLES GETS RIGHT
Johnson (AUS) A FIRM FAN FAVOURITE IN ENGLAND. A 'GREAT'.......
Broad (ENG) UNDECIDED. JUST NEEDS ANOTHER 8 YEARS TO GET HIS NIP BACK. BRAIN STILL DEVELOPING.
DeVilliers (RSA) WELL ON HIS WAY. NEEDS TO GIVE UP THE GLOVES THOUGH
Ishant (IND) STILL YOUNG. IPL'D.
Mendis (SL) NEEDS TO PLAY MORE TESTS AGAINST ENGLAND TO BECOME GREAT.
Hughes (Aus) NEEDS TO PLAY MORE TESTS AGAINST BANGLADESH
Taylor (WI) REMEMBER HIM? IS HE STILL ALIVE?
Is there anyone else who could be considered great who isn't on those lists? And who of the 'almost greats' and 'could be greats' are likely to be 'certain greats' by the end of their careers?
Not bad, I reckon.

Rafiq?
Holy smokes. It's been a bad week for mediocre Asian spinners.

Not bad Trev? Seems to me there's AB deV (who everybody was wanking about in 2004) and then a lot of 'hmmms', 'nahs' and 'hmmm nahs'. Booollleesssheeeettt-ta-ta-taaaah
Re: Who are world cricket's current GREAT players?
Pujara, Trev? Why, it's almost like he scored an unbeaten 98 or some such...

Shh - if it gets him out early tomorrow (and a career ending broken leg walking back to the dressing room), it's a Trevving worth doing.
It's about time he used his powers for good.

Good point. I didn't see the ploy straight off. He could actually try the odd reverse-Trev, but he seems too adverse to doing so. Qunt.

At least he gives it a rip. A good number 8 batsman, as well. The closest we have to Swanny clone.

He does have quite a large chin.

Does he have the 'Yes! Lord In Heaven!' celebration though? He needs that. Maybe Swann could teach him.
Re: Who are world cricket's current GREAT players?
England don't do "greats" anyway, who was our last one, Botham?
Our runs and wickets aggregate records are pitiful compared to the world records, despite how many Tests we play. Our players are either late developers, or burn out early, or both... if Tendulkar was English he would probably have waited until he was 26 for his debut then been discarded after a poor series at about 31.

I think history will judge Cook and KP as greats. Maybe even Prior as well, although his keeping isn't always fantastic.
