What a form turnaround by Button ... doubt if anyone could have picked him out, this time last year, if informed that a British driver would be leading the 2009 championship at this stage.
F1 is almost interesting again ...
Always talented but never had the car. I'm not overly into F1 because it does seem to be more about the car than the driver.
Schumaker: won with a Brawn-designed car.
Hamilton: won with a Brawn-designed car.
Button: winning with a Brawn-designed car.

FFS, if there was an EPL & Essex were involved it would have my full attention and the last of my worries would be if someone in India gave a crap about it.
I think that just about sums it up, JKL. Of course, I can understand some of the subis getting a bity peeved at the "studied" indifference of certain forummers who don't watch it but seem to know all the results, etc . . .

he's way ahead in the points isnt he? not particularly interesting, except for the fact someone new is winning it. brawn seems to have done very well to have kept the technological gap going despite the others getting diffusers as well. i wonder if the others can catch up before button sews up the championship

true. dont particularly care who watches it, indian or otherwise. i cant imagine myself watching an epl with any real interest
it just gets particularly boring when someone mentions for the 100th time they dont care. or try really hard to explain why they dont care. a bit like the whole 'i have you on ignore but i cant stop talking about you' thing

Re: How many IPL matches did you watch live ?
I watched just 1 whole over and accidentally too while surfing channels. The Warne v/s Tendulkar over in the last Mumbai vs Jaipur Match. SRT got out cheap in that over and my interest was over with that.
A look at various scorecards and news analysis across all medias the gives up the whole summary. It reveals that bats like Dravid not expected to succeed in this format have succeeded. SRT who who should have easily blended in has done ok and not more than Dravid. Ganguly has been a massive flop. All the T20 young guns and Dhoni's 'killers' like Yuvraj and Uthappa have been flopshows. Sehwag and Dhoni have not justified their billing. Kumble the least expected to be successful has actually been among the top bowlers I reckon. Jayasurya is now past his playing years even and shouldn't be seen playing any cricket again. Laxman expectedly is nowhere to be seen. A guy who can't cut a decent JAMODI side can't really hack into this one. So much for being an icon player. Parthiv and Karthick have done well.

But you may do if several of your favourite Indian players were involved whilst not giving a crap about particular results or have any meaning for you.
The reason people will talk about IPL is because love it/loathe it/ or just indifferent..... it is the current news story regarding world cricket right now.

Re: How many IPL matches did you watch live ?
As someone on here a couple of years ago said; 20-20 = 0. Thats exactly how many games I have watched.
I don't expect this to change any time soon. On the rare occasions that I feel the need to watch people wildly swinging a lump of wood at a ball, I tune into Major League Baseball on Foxtel.

Oh, I watch domestic T20 and will watch the T20 world cup.
It has its place but needs some perspective in the current cricket world.
If it was to become the primary form of the game at the expense of others I think my love for cricket would seriously drop.

I'm worried that it already has become the primary form of the game in qthe eyes of quite a few of the world's top cricketers. Gayle said that he preffered it to test cricket, and yesterday Symonds said that winning the IPL with the Deccan Chargers was up there with winning the 50 over world cup with Australia.

MLB is as boring as all hell.
They have managed to stretch what should be a 2 hour game into close to 4 hours.

I have absolutely no problem how you feel about the IPL, love it, hate it, watch it, don't watch it, I don't care. I get the shits from the constant reminders.

No.
Your particular problem, as with practically all the Indian forummers on here ('cept perhaps furri) is to get ultra sensitive and prickly when "someone" does happen to have a dig at the IPL ... as if you personally have some kind of Gavaskar-given right to vigourously defend the concept.
For my part, I cannot recall having referred to the subject on more than 4 occasions (100? god forbid!) - and specifically on this recent occasion in order to rubbish Buckeye's misguided claim that those who don't "love" the IPL are somehow "jealous" of it FFS .... and the comparison of the Ashes series to IPL was made to reflect the fact that, certainly judging from the general public interest here (or lack thereof in IPL's case) and the majority of posts on this forum, the IPL is seldom, if ever, watched (even YOU admitted that you viewed only half the games!!) avidly outside of India and the stadia in SA ....
But then, I could be wrong about that!

The thread's question was :
How many IPL matches did you watch live ?
In order not to give you the shits ... here's an appropriate answer ...
Wonderful day here, bright sunshine with a cool breeze (zero) and a bright forecast for the rest of the week.

Re: How many IPL matches did you watch live ?
Got to admit I watched most of it, maybe 90% or so and enjoyed the first 60-75% after which match fatigue set in. If they did away with either one of the home or away matches, that might keep the interest flowing throughout the tournament.
JKL is right on the money in one point; why would anyone show any interest in an Indian domestic tournament? The EPL wouldn't attract much foreign attention either. Only, the IPL is unique in as much as there are 8 foreign players in every match resulting in some attraction to it. AND there is a bag full of money - more than in any other legit tournament including the WC - up for grabs.
Uncanny how many seemingly hate this format, yet are well-informed enough to comment on the games they allegedly didn't watch. It seems to be en vogue to front an uppity nose at a format that upsets the traditionalists’ cart.
Arschlöcher
T 20 is definitely not a striped suit, bowler hat and brolly sort of game. While others are already riding the rainbow train, we are still brawling about the colour of the pram we’re pushed around in. Maybe the WC will change that.

Only to match the number of subi posts that seek to convert the "unwashed" ...which can also be tedious at times.

Why the fcuk can't you stay away from 20-20 threads instead of getting on people's nerves? Just a suggestion.
