Re: How many IPL matches did you watch live ?
I watched a fair bit of the matches where the Aussies were playing.
Overall, the cricket was of a poor standard with the 4 import rule greatly affecting the quality - you ended up having out of their depth Subi teenagers bowling at the likes of Gilly, Hayden, Gibbs, etc. Hopefully that will continue and the whole thing will die next year for lack of interest.
Also, I was never convinced that there was a real contest happening - it had a bit of a WWE feel at times.

Why the fcuk can't you stay away from 20-20 threads instead of getting on people's nerves? Just a suggestion.
Only shitfests if you want to them to be so jimmy ... but if it irritates you, all the better.
My counter suggestion would be that you climb the fcuk off your soap box and check your Nano IQ out.
T20's fine in it's place ... said as much ... even got my tickets to the ICC circus-fest next month ... this was solely to do with IPL and its hyper-sensitive "supporters" who took umbrage at my original comment !

@ JGK
you view the negative side. Some of those subi teenagers did manager to surprise the seniors as well.
@ Merlin
now I think you are a closet IPL watcher like embee and JGK. Let me tell you something, watch as much IPL while you can. Because I do not see IPL as a regular feature esp with subicon security being compromised with terror-sponsoring countries in vicinity. I watched quite a few matches and felt they were really good value in terms of showcasing various talents .. finally at the end of the day one really gets to know who in world cricket stands where. That's the most important takeaway from IPL.

Re: How many IPL matches did you watch live ?
I haven't watched a single IPL match in either tournament so far. I don't really pay much attention to Twenty20 full stop except where Nottinghamshire are concerned, and even then I can take it or leave it. The problem I have with the format is less the format in itself but more the unfair treatment of bowlers. If they put the boundaries back all the way and played on good wickets rather than brilliant ones, I'd probably quite enjoy it.

If they put the boundaries back all the way and played on good wickets rather than brilliant ones, play the game over 5 days of 90 overs a day and give each side two innings, I'd probably quite enjoy it.
Fixed...

No one will gain anything with the death of IPL
Its a good concept and should continue but i would it to be over and done with in 2 weeks and more importantly i want Modi to stop behaving like an A hole.

I think that's the general consensus, PP. While some hate T20, most don't mind it in small doses. Modi has just saturated us with it, to the point that it loses any appeal.

Well the good thing about it is I should be able to legitimise my backyard cricket results with the ICC.

I think Modi should just include all Indian cities in IPL. Cities like Ahmedabad, Nasik, Meerut, Jalalabad, Lucknow, Gangtok, Chandigarh, Mangalore, Mysore, Rajkot, Srinagar, Bhopal and all such. All domestic players in India would get employment. @ 4 foreigners, per team, all current playing players in other international teams would get a place. Then slowly expand the base to merge T20 Champion's Trophy and get in the Brisbane, Melbourne, Dunedin, Bhilwara, Kochi, Lahore, Karachi, Colombo, London, Hampshire, Cape Town, Guyana etc teams.
End of the problem. Because then, that way the whole FTP would just be a one year long IPL with no other cricket and parts of it could be leased to other cricket boards just to keep them all happy and included. The tournament could then easily play over a whole year and Modi/BCCI needn't plead ICC for a slot in the FTP calender, and not mull over playing it twice a year.
I await with bated breath the inevitable onslaught of Ahmedabad Gujjus, Pune Marathas, Lucknow Nawabs, Lahore Badshahs, Melbourne Leopards, Brisbane Buccaneers, Bhopal Bhaiyyas, Gangtok Gang, Jalandhar Shers, Chandigarh Dhamakedaars, Cape Town Warriors, Sussex Tigers etc. all getting into the fray.....

Atleast you are honest. Henry most of this forum watched IPL, just that they wouldn't dare admit it on here.
Instead what we have is reams upon reams of opinion on how they ignored IPL and no one believes them anyways.

Now you're going too far the other way, Bucky.
Some folk simply didn't have the opportunity to make a decision either way. I didn't watch a ball. I might have, if I'd had the opportunity.

Re: How many IPL matches did you watch live ?
yes, but all those on this forum who did have access to Setanta or received telecast of IPL matches did watch them.
the point is they then come on here and keep wasting our time reporting on how 'they didn't watch it'. What kind of perversion is that ?

Ditto Setanta in the UK, Lardy.
The only way i'd have seen it was via the god known as 'dodgy linkage'
As I said I watched a few games where English players were involved at the start. Not because I cared about the result (which IMO is the ultimate reason for following sport) but just to see how they were going.
Deccan Chargers(?) winning means as much to me as Tasmania winning the Sheffield Shield. Zip...
