NSW scraped over the line this year. Victoria fluked a win in 2007-08. The most convincing victory for decades was Tasmania's, in 2006-07. You may have noticed a thread on the subject.

It would be a bit of an effort to not care in this case .. skip the sports column .. avoid the IPL forums .. avoid sports news ..
people have to go to some lengths to not care. Quite a labored effort I would say.

Bucky, you would be surprised. I don't have cable, so I have not seen a game, and there has been little or no coverage in the mainstream media here. Very different in India, I imagine.

btw Deccan Chargers won.
Gilchrist captains Deccan Chargers. they came 8th in last years IPL. Symonds sledged as best as he could. Gilchrist scored zero in the final, he was snared by rival captain Anil Kumble.
Now you are upto speed.

The results aren't in any of our newspapers, and it certainly wasn't given a mention on the countrys leading sports news channel - why would it be? A Brtish driver won the monaco GP, and it was the end of our football season.

where does Lever hide his face now ? Is he back in England or still in Kansas boondocks ? While I am sure he shares his space in England with equally snobbish fellow countrymen apart from the fact that the English are acutely horrible at T20 and shouldn't be playing it anyways, but still there would always be the odd snippet that he would chance upon here and there. he would have to take some effort to skip IPL related news while surfing for cricket in the last month.

I imagine Newcastle's relegation was trumpeted long and loudly?

What a form turnaround by Button ... doubt if anyone could have picked him out, this time last year, if informed that a British driver would be leading the 2009 championship at this stage.
F1 is almost interesting again ...

yes, and England never bets.
I am constantly amused at your obvious slant when it comes to anything subi.
My specific "slant" when it comes to the sensitive Indian forummers on here (furrie excluded) concerns their myopic view of the IPL (and all things associated with it) - in their manic drive to convert the world of cricket.
T20 is an amusing distraction. More so when it involves cricketing nations, as with the ICC WC next month.
But beyond that, to tout for overpriced mercenaries to trash a ball around the park to keep pop corn sales boosted challenges the imagination of even the mildest cricket aficionado.
To claim that it will displace test cricket - as 'sagely' expressed by a disgruntled Crystal Gayle ony defies belief!

yeah .. the 'strategy breaks' included by Lalit Modi really pissed everyone off. I didn't participate in the forums myself.
It is understandable.

I confess to taking some mean-spirited pleasure in this.

Always talented but never had the car. I'm not overly into F1 because it does seem to be more about the car than the driver.

I dont...I think it is good that the geordies now have the opportunity to win a game or two against teams of a similar standard

Sunderland supporters laughed loudest - some great placards evident at their game hailing Newcastles demotion!

Channel hopping thru Sky tends occasionally to throw-up (in the strictest sense of the word) scenes involving the popcorn munchers, cheer leaders (btw, an EXCELLENT concept) and the odd "huge" six at an IPL "game" ...buckSH wrote:T20 is an amusing distraction. Still fail to see why 'some' Indians get the Sh!ts if you don't idolise the IPL...
FFS, if there was an EPL & Essex were involved it would have my full attention and the last of my worries would be if someone in India gave a crap about it.
