T20 is ideally suited for the temparaments of only 5 teams.
Australia, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, South Africa & India.
Enzee is borderline.
England are totally out of it. The English players are not fit enough, not physically robust enough, not motivated enough, and are traditionally far too content and too aloof to either participate or captain in any T20 teams.

oops I forgot the West Indies. Very inconsistent performers.
difficult to motivate, poor teamwork, couldn't be arsed to compete and constantly hide behind excuses of differences with management.

Re: How many IPL matches did you watch live ?
Without IPL, no one would have known of Shadab Jakati, Vander Merwe, Manish Pandey, Harmeet Singh, Ojha, or even an Atul Sharma.
Ranji doesn't give an opportunity to showcase such players. And more teams mean that more international players too shall get a chance to make an impression on the big stage.
Can't see what's wrong with that from any angle. This helps mainstream cricket as nothing else.

Yeah? You 'know' this how?buckSH wrote:yes, but all those on this forum who did have access to Setanta or received telecast of IPL matches did watch them.
the point is they then come on here and keep wasting our time reporting on how 'they didn't watch it'.

It's pretty clear that the England team's fitness would shit all over the Indian team's.
Case closed.

You don't need cable ...you need to be able to get Ten's HD channel One ...a HD set top box or a new tv would sort that out (assuming you get coverage )

Van de Merwe played 4 Jamodis for Jaapan vs the Ozzies before the IPL and the rest are still a bit short of International class

I tell you it's not long before the teams start taking complete international rookies.
Esp if more teams are involved. Not everyone shall be able to afford int stars.
Just think about it, talent scouts from these teams scouring the world for fresh talent, only cricket gains from this. A dying sport stands its best chance to being resurrected.

Re: How many IPL matches did you watch live ?
shaun marsh last year was someone who 'made' his name in the ipl before any senior international experience. there is certainly the possibility of more as teams start sending scouts to pick the best talent
mendis too was picked up by calcutta before he played for lanka. they didnt play him in the last year though

Of course none of these players would ever have made it if IPL wasn't on the scene...

On the flip side, IPL also ensures that bowlers like Kamran Khan get picked up with incorrect actions and development even before they are ready to be picked up.....
