Yeah, but why are the players pretending they're live when in actuality they aren't live? I don't know why they'd agree to do that.
Re: Australia v South Africa, 1st Test, Brisbane, 9-13 November, 2012
It's annoyed me for some time but the TV companies seem unable to remove it from recordings. I've been caught a couple of times by matches played earlier in the day.

The day has been abandoned. So much for Aussie weather. Well worth having two hours sleep for.
Re: Australia v South Africa, 1st Test, Brisbane, 9-13 November, 2012
So the rub of the green favoured Aus on day 2

I don't think so. This stoppage will only serve to keep SA from their goal of being fully cooked.
Re: Australia v South Africa, 1st Test, Brisbane, 9-13 November, 2012
Oh look, more of the weather that the arseclown head of the Aus Climate Commission, Tim Flannery, said in 2007 would never be seen again. Cracked earth and empty dams was his fearless prediction.
Still, I'm sure the Aus bowlers would've appreciated a day's recovery after barely looking like taking a wicket on Day 1.

Actually he did predict more weather events like Superstorm Sandy. Climate change sceptics seem to think it's all about no rain, not about climate change.

Is that right, Red?
"In 2005, Flannery predicted Sydney’s dams could be dry in as little as two years because global warming was drying up the rains, leaving the city “facing extreme difficulties with water”.
Check Sydney’s dam levels today: 92 per cent.
In 2008, Flannery said: “The water problem is so severe for Adelaide that it may run out of water by early 2009.”
Check Adelaide’s water storage levels today: 64 per cent.
In 2007, Flannery predicted cities such as Brisbane would never again have dam-filling rains, as global warming had caused “a 20 per cent decrease in rainfall in some areas” and made the soil too hot, “so even the rain that falls isn’t actually going to fill our dams and river systems ... “.
Current Brisbane storage: 96%
Flannery's response to questions about these bogus predictions:
"I can’t remember everything I said back then but there may have been things that were prevalent in the science back then which today have changed… I readily admit that, but the stuff about rainfall is still valid."
-------------------------------------------------------
I'm surprised he didn't blame Tony Abbott.
Flannery is a complete and utter fraud. Nothing wrong with being just a little sceptical about these idiots who live off scare-mongering about Climate Change, is there Red? Ay?

Officially play will resume half an hour early - 9.30 a.m. Brisbane time, which will be 10.30 for the rest of the eastern seaboard. There are a few showers predicted some time in the morning though.
Skully sea levels have risen discernibly in the past fifty years which have been responsible for floods in Bangladesh and other weather events. Just this morning in 'The Age' there was another article with damning evidence about climate change. Remember Flannery isn't the only one making predictions.
It's okay to deny it if you know that you will be pushing up daisies when eventually the cumulative effects of manmade damage become catastrophic.

20 cm (8 inches) in the last 100 years, Red. Wiki states "1.7 ± 0.3 mm per year from 1950 to 2009" = 100 mm = 10 cm in 59 years. Please define "decernible". If you have a good night on the town, do you tell your girlfriends that you scored a man with a decernible dick? Sorry to get vulgar, but you are talking horseshit.Red wrote:Nath wrote:so does play resume 1 hour early or 30 min early (if the ground is ok)?

Climate Change scientists have admitted in the wake of Sandy that a 20 cm change in sea level would have absolutely no effect on intensity of a storm forming in the central Atlantic. Superstorms (Cat 5 - look it up, as well as the instances) have been happening in the States since the days of Columbus.
I dunno how old you think I am, but I don't intend on pushing up daisies for many, many years, yet.
Please back up your statements with fact. You have fallen for the doomsayers bullshit.

I think those who deny climate change don't want to admit the effect of humans and the fossil fuel industry on it and don't want to change their lifestyles.
There are plenty of convincing scholarly articles about it written by climate scientists.

And there's the rub. You forget that these scientists live off grants. They find in favour of the "facts" that get them further grants.Red wrote:I think those who deny climate change don't want to admit the effect of humans and the fossil fuel industry on it and don't want to change their lifestyles.

There is no doubt climate change is occurring, but I and many others don't buy how fast it is allegedly happening nor how much effect it is having on the world climate. I take with a grain of salt what Flannery and his ilk say. Gimme the writings of an independent, not-funded-by-the-climate-lobby scientist, and you'll have a far greater chance of getting my ear. You are an Al Gore Groupie.
And throw-away lines mean nothing to me. Feel free to quote some independent research that supports your views.

So the fact that you acknowledge that it is happening means that it's inexorable so governments taking measures to address this can't be a bad thing. In fact forcing polluting industries to stop this should be a good thing for everybody.

The key is the new ball. SA is batting one short so if Pattinson and co. strike they could keep them to a manageable total and by the time they get to bat the juice should be gone. They could then try to set up a lead and roll them a second time.
Of course SA could dig in and make themselves safe so that Steyn and co. can let fly and try to mess with the oz batsmen's heads.
With only some time added on each day (and bearing in mind the evanescent light in Qld) the time lost today could prove critical in forcing an outcome for this game.
Draw would have to be the favourite now.

Re: Australia v South Africa, 1st Test, Brisbane, 9-13 November, 2012
Oh dear. Exactly what measures is this fraud of a Govt taking that will make ANY difference to world sea levels? Australia produces just 1% of world CO2 emissions. Anything the carbon tax is allegedly doing would at best merely slow down the increase in our production, which will still remain at 1 % of world production, i.e the carbon tax is achieving precisely NOTHING. If all Australians suddenly reverted to the Dark Ages, world CO2 production would instantly drop by, wait for it, 1%, but that would be swallowed up in no time by the increases in the US, China and India. So there is nothing piss-ant little Aus can do to have any real effect. End of.Red wrote:So the fact that you acknowledge that it is happening means that it's inexorable so governments taking measures to address this can't be a bad thing. Nice, something we can agree on, although if the wicket does get juiced up by sweating, we might still have to work hard for that.Red wrote:Draw would have to be the favourite now.
