I'm sure Taips will know better, but I read a while ago that South Africa is not in the prime boxing day/new year slot because it wasn't reciprocated or some such. Could be rabid speculation, not sure of it at all.

Sums up South Africa's flaws far, far better and more articulately than Red ever could.
But...Red was right. She's just not as eloquent as Firdose.

That's correct, but let's not go down that road again.

Firdose is pretty bad imo. She's the most known, but certainly not the best.Henry wrote:Firdose Moonda is probably the best South African (rather than English expat ala Manthorp) cricket Journalist going around-

Fair few have tried tbf. Donald, Polly, Klusener (shame), Peter Kirsten etc.Henry wrote:What's the reason behind the lack of former Saffie players turning to commentary?
Polly is a good one though. I like him. Funny and self-deprecating, but also full of knowledge.
Best is the zimbo farmer Neil Johnson though. Such a gun!

Active enough Prez, good to have you back. Gotta be better than reading facts about stuff. This place is pure fantasy.
Re: Australia v South Africa, 1st Test, Brisbane, 9-13 November, 2012 (II)
Aye, Taips needs some Saffer support against the Aussies so it's a good time I guess.
Although you poms will be giving him ample I'm sure
And I mean that in multiple ways.

Aye, I'm wanting the SAs to win. Although I've just been glad for Test cricket being on. Enjoyed Aus' batting as well, even though I was hoping for wickets.

Anyone mention yet what a bunch of panty-twisting dick monkeys Australia are in the appeal-for-everything-and-then-bottom-lip-it-like-there's-no-tomorrow-when-the-umpire-rightly-gives-it-not-out stakes?

TBH, I'd become immune to it. Matthew Wade must be teaching them a thing or two in training.

He's hilarious. And the reason why they keep burning through their referrals inside of five overs.
He shrieks like an excitable girl at a glitter factory every time the ball so much as carries through to him.

TBH, the more I see him, the more I think he's a little 'touched'. Steve Smith sort of touched.

Not Jimmy Saville sort of touched.
At least then, Wade could justify his shrieking...

It is quite heartening to see Victorians confirm the stereotype.
At least they serve to make everyone else (even Queenslanders) feel better about themselves.

RD has always over identified with QBilliies, Zimmy and Bronny Bishop...credibility gap is in light years
