Achillees injuries are notoriously difficult to overcome.
Has he ever played more than two consecutive tests?

Good luck to him. We had our 17 years of glory. It's the Poms' turn. But if we do perform 1989 style on the off chance - happy days.

I feel they have an outside chance to win as they have a good pace attack.
Until they break down.
On cue, Harris has returned home after crocking out of the IPL.
No way!

Yep. The prospect that that might happen is the only thing keeping me going at the moment.

Re: Ashes Squad
I know you guys are woofing like it's going out of style, but this Ashes really isn't as much of a mismatch as you're making out.
IMO, Australia has a better pace attack at this moment in time. All England's bowlers have regressed since the last Ashes. And the batting has always been flat-track-centric. South Africa did a proper Emperor's New Clothes on us last summer, in every discipline.
Reckon it'll be a tight series.

As long as we go into the last 2 tests with Aust a chance of winning the series I'll be happy.

Should be.
Trent Bridge: probably a result. Usually hoops.
Lord's: a track so flat even Indian groundsmen would be embarrassed to produce it. Draw.
Old Trafford: Rain. Might take spin. But, rain. So, no. Draw.

Our attack is'nt the problem. The fact is we can't bat our way out of a wet paper bag. It doesnt matter how good your bowlers are if they have no target to bowl at.
We are farked!!

Harris, Khawaja and Rogers will strengthen the team.

Aye, after the pathetic pea-hearted Indian massacre, a competitive series will be a real bonus. If we avoid disgrace, I'll be chuffed.JGK wrote:Dello wrote:I know you guys are woofing like it's going out of style, but this Ashes really isn't as much of a mismatch as you're making out.

We can only hope its MILF and not Midge that is backup.
Personally, I think Aus are a chance as long as their bowlers fire, they'll keep up competitive until the batters get in...(and out)

Re: Ashes Squad
Hilfy should be first reserve in English conditions. Hogan is already over there as a ready reserve. IF Sayers has a good A tour, I'd be encouraging him to head to Blighty to get some English experience and be 'on hand'. Bollinger, Nash, and Joe Dawes are all available too. Finally, if ALL of them are injured, and Shaun Tait and Wayne Holdsworth are both dead, Johnson might come into contention.
