Agree 100% re: Milf. Then again, anyone but Midge. Is Paul Reiffel available?

I believe Bruce Francis still rolls his arm over. Or rolls over his arm. No, that was Simon Cook. Sorry.

lardbucket wrote:Hilfy should be first reserve in English conditions. Hogan is already over there as a ready reserve. IF Sayers has a good A tour, I'd be encouraging him to head to Blighty to get some English experience and be 'on hand'. Bollinger, Nash, and Joe Dawes are all available too. Finally, if ALL of them are injured, and Shaun Tait and Wayne Holdsworth are both dead, Johnson might come into contention.
Can't believe that Hilf isn't on the plane.

It's a bit strange.
Hilf: contract, not tour.
Bird: no contract, tour.
I think they should both be there.

no point sending Hilf if he is going to bowl 125kph dobbers...needs to bowl at 135+ regularly to be anything but food and drink for the poms

By giving Hilfenhaus a contract they obviously think he has more of a future in ODIs and T20s than tests, such is the idiocy of your contracts system. The message seems to be- If you're a test specialist, forget about the security of a contract.
Some incentive, eh?

A fair call Trev. The contract allocation was bizarre in the extreme in a number of cases.

Good to see some of the Ashes squad will get some match practice. Silk is an interesting selection seeing he has only played three first class games. I just hope they don't fark him up by pushing him too soon.

Re: Ashes Squad
No doubt covered in CC thread
"Chris Rogers and Sam Robson set a new record for the highest ever first-wicket stand for Middlesex against Surrey on a day that saw the home side wrestle back the initiative from their south of the river rivals. It was in the 69th over that the record set by Pelham Warner and Johnny Douglas in 1907 at The Oval was passed (that added 259 for 1st wkt) , and owed as much to the openers' pro-active start as it did to a pitch that became much easier to bat on."
------------------------------------------------------
Get Rogers into the Test side ASAP.

Sam Robson's one of yours - a defector.
Don't think he's England-qualfied yet, though.

Congrats to Chris Rogers on his double hundred v Slurrey. Dave Warner and Phillip Hughes, take note.

Re: Ashes Squad
Oh dear
"Ricky Ponting says he would be available for 'unlikely' Ashes call.
Asked, inevitably, if he would come back if needed, the former skipper said yes but admitted it was almost certainly not going to happen.
"You wouldn't say no, would you, if that call came and I would never say never," Ponting said."
-----------------------------------------------
Column inches question - "would you consider making yourself available for the Ashes?".

Well, Easter has just finished, so he can't be very busy. Alls he's going to be doing is eating kosher pizza and wanking over Jewish porn.

Re: Ashes Squad
Presumably we're about due for the traditional pre-series "I'm not discounting anything" teasing from Warnie vis–à–vis a dramatic Ashes comeback.
Maybe him, Riggy and Kim Hughes will all be lining up in the baggy green come the third Test.
