Re: Usain Bolt
Amazingly, the female equivalent of 9.58 is 10.04! Given that 10.49 hasn't been touched in 20 years this doesn't seem right.
Similarly, the female 400m equivalent is 45.15 (which is Bolt's best 400m by the way). The current womens WR is 47.6 which was set over 20 years ago and hasn't seriously been threatened either.

Re: Usain Bolt
Just watched Bolt in his heat of the 200 metres,he was so far in front he "shut down"30 metres from the finish and four runners were closing in on him on the line....what amazes me is that he hasn't got a perfect style of running,..so how fast could he run if his style could be "streamlined"???

I'd like you to tell us all what the ""perfect" style of running is.

F*ck me. Bolt is a machine. I didn't see the race, but 200m in 19.20 is SICK!

Watching the clock as he was sprinting home, for just a moment I thought he was going to go sub 19 seconds.

I mean seriously, you have to bear in mind that Michael Johnson was in a completely different league to everyone at the time and any athlete around now, other than Bolt.
There is clear daylight between Michael Johnson and every other 200m runner ever other than Bolt. The fact there is now daylight between Bolt and Michael Johnson is just utterly ridiculous.

True that. And it's not like they're the same as the swimmers, who can wear technologically advanced swimsuits these days to smash world records. A runner still has to rely solely on his legs.

Ah well not really. It's never fair to compare people in different eras, you can only talk about who is utterly dominant in any given time. Otherwise you're saying that all the British 100m runners of today are better than Jesse Owens and that's palpable nonsense.
