Yeah they just posted the barrier draw. Couldn't find it earlier, just the news that Gai's thing might get the nod.

I can't believe that Sir Slick is going around in it.
It wouldn't win at Cessnock today let alone the CP

That's what happens when you have a race whose field is totally up to the discretion of the committee. But as you said it ain't exactly a star studded field.

It also appears that Snug Buggles's odds in the Oaks have been assassinated.

10 to 1 for something that has only won a bush maiden and a rating 65 race seems awfully short.

Talking about ratings. Just read an article that explains Sir Slick. Whilst the MVRC have discretion they normally benchmark off VRC ratings and Sir Slick was 112. A bit above a lot of the runners despite shithouse recent form.

So it's easier to gain ratings than it is to lose them.

Sounds like Spiv cricketers

Must be done by accountants. just like the cricket and golf ratings. Though the guy who wrote the article was lampooning Sir Slick's stable rider who said he was in the best form of his career. Along the lines of how bad was he when he was winning big time.

Gai Waterhouse is famous for three reasons
1 trainer of the most massive and expensive yet relatively underperforming stable.
2 connections with 'well known racing identities'
3 a name that Mudge takes great interest in.

i certainly hope so...from memory AJC derby Winners do not have a good record in the MC (over rated spiv form - hehehe) but he will certainly have my money on him...

After the CC the canny Bart conceded he thought the Emperor had a bit of improvement left in him.
