More money than sense would sum up most racehorse owners wouldn't it? No offence RD.

Pretty much. You have to be nuts to go into it thinking you are going to make money.

I love the story about that yank horse running around ten or so years ago. Won everything including Dubai, bought for a motza and his prizemoney didn't cover the purchase price, and it was a lot of prizemoney. Retired early to stud and turned out to be sterile.

Actually just checked. His owner/breeder founded the Gulfstream Aircraft Company, so probably didn't feel the financial hit.

I had assumed that they would have had to have been shetland ponies

Can't really get into the Derby this year. Though I'll think I'll have a bit on the topweight as his name is the same as a very amusing advertising campaign in the Territory years ago to stamp out alcoholism.

I've identified Viewed, Roman Emporer & Daffodil as worthy of being tipped into a 5 or 6 horse box. Other thoughts?

It's a farking thin race this year. I'd be amazed if one of the first 2 you mentioned plus Alcopop and Shocking didn't win it.
However, historically some donkey always pops up into the place - no idea which one it could be though. And you'd think one of the Asylum Seekers is could run a race

Allez Wonder should go into any 5 or 6 horse box. Looks like it's beaten the handicapper and it is Bart's year.

I don't reckon it will stay the distance, but Bart does so there is really no point in offering anymore of my drivel on the subject.

Master O'Reilly - previously 8th and 4th in harder MC's than this one.

Re: Horse Racing Thread
It ran third in the Derby. Admittedly it's form is erratic, but I'd discount the Caulfield Cup as bart just trying to get miles into it's legs. And there's always a doubt over that distance until horses actuyally run it and not many go into an MC with a 3200 under it's belt. Plus I'm wary of the cunning old bastard.

Aye. If Changhingofthegard is actually fit he's another who's beaten the handicapper and can actually run the distance.

Well the leftie humanitarian thingie in me hopes it gets beaten by a nose and gives the old bastard a heart attack. Looks like it could be his last race as an owner if the Brits get their way.
