I was having palpitations after the field goal. Found myself in the unusual position of screaming at STG to grow some balls.

Bennet never managed the Broncs that well after SoOs either. By that I mean six could've been ten.

But they really had no excuse last night. The flint hard defence of last year was nowhere to be seen last night.

Re: Rugby Leeeeeg 2011
And absolute rarity for me tonight. Actually barracking for both the Broncos (acceptable) and *cough* *splutter* *gag* the Coastal Filth. 999 times out of 1000 I would barrack against Manly but if the Nags win, then Manly beating the Cows will mean the Drags live on till next week.
Although on last night's 2nd half form, they will get snotted next weekend.

Re: Rugby Leeeeeg 2011
So the Nags snot the woeful Worriers. Manu Vatuvei had the game from hell after the Broncs clearly targeted him.
The Drags dodge one bullet.
Now how does it work from here? The two highest place winners get the week off and the next two highest place winners play the two highest placed losers?
So if Storm and manly win they get a rest and, is this right, the Broncs play the Warriors and the Tigers play the Dragons???? Shirley not?? Or do Broncs play Drags and Tiges play Worriers?
I reckon summat like this happened in one of the very early years of the McIntyre system. I'm sure the Drags finished below the Broncs and beat them in the first weekend, only to have to play them again the following week, and lost.
Garquen stoopid, stoopid system.

Re: Rugby Leeeeeg 2011
Just checked Wiki and it says the following:
* 1st Semi Final: 4th highest ranked winner vs 2nd highest ranked loser
* 2nd Semi Final: 3rd highest ranked winner vs 1st highest ranked loser
So if it goes the way I said above then it would be Broncs v Drags, and Tiges v Warriors. At least that makes some sense.

it's Broncos vs Dragons (winner plays Manly), and Tigers vs Warriors (winner plays Storm) under that scenario, skully.

Yep, cheers Nath. Tough road for the Drags, but then again you'd expect that in the final 6.

FFS, how useless are Manly. This is one off with skull and me supporting them and they are getting beaten by the Cows.

Coastal Filth just don't look interested. At this rate the Manly will be playing the Drags and the Tiges will be playing the Cows.

Re: Rugby Leeeeeg 2011
In the end the Filth avalanche all over the woeful Cows for a 34 point win (42-0 in 2nd half [snigger]). Cows eliminated.
So the Drags get a 2nd chance. If Storm lose we play them, if Storm win we play the Broncs.

Storm would be 1st highest ranked loser and Drags would be 2nd highest ranked loser. Tiges would be 3rd highest ranked winner and Newcastle would be 4th highest ranked winner.
So you are correct. Drags would play Knights and Storm would play Tiges.

Re: Rugby Leeeeeg 2011
Not sure if that's a sarky comment or not, Q. I know they knocked us out in 2009 (when we were Minor Premiers) after we lost the first semi to the Slimeys (the farkin Hayne Brain Drain had his one good game in 12 and cut us to shreds) then had to go to Suncorp and lost a tight one.

Did I hear one of the TV nobs say the Nags have a poor recent finals record at Suncorp? Something like one of the last eight before this weekend? And (because I CBF looking it up) is that true?

I heard the same. Probably true. They haven't played at Lang Park a lot and normally win the premiership from near the cellar so waya games.
