Lunch time with NZ in the stronger position. The winner of the next session might quite well determine the winner.

New Zealand wont want to chase anything more than 200, considering the fragility of their batting lineup, and the strength of South Africa's bowling lineup.

Kallis is surely now a better test cricketer than some of the finest batsmen of the modern era like Ponting, Tend and Lara.

I would say it's a toss up between Kallis and Murali.

FFS NZ...

67.1
Southee to Smith, no run, driven in the air but well short of cover, and there's a mix up now, Kallis is a goner if Nicol hits at the bowler's end, he's given up hope of making his ground, but the throw misses. Kallis was stranded well down the pitch and just hoped the throw would miss

Went to bed at tea. Good to see the score, but was spared hearing the kiwi commentators tell us (as they surely would) that this is a moral victory for New Zealand...

So, I couldn't sleep last night (too much tea I think). I turn on the cricket, they were discussing how to get Graeme Smith out. Here's the paraphrase (can't remember verbatim, but it's close):

Ian Smith: Well, I'd pack the on-side field (five positions) and bowl straight, threaten the wickets.

Craig McMillan: I wouldn't...

Ian Smith: ... DID YOU EVEN CAPTAIN NEW ZEALAND? HOW MANY TIMES DID YOU CAPTAIN NEW ZEALAND???

Craig McMillan: Around 5 ODIS..

Ian Smith: SO YOU NEVER CAPTAIN NEW ZEALAND IN TESTS? WELL THEN!

**Simon Doull nervously laughs**

Craig McMillan: So that means I'm not entitled to an opinion?

**at this point, you see some producer semi-jostle Ian Smith**

Ian Smith: WELL WHAT WOULD YOU DO THEN?

Craig McMillan: Well, how did New Zealand get him out in the first innings? Keeping it full and wide. I'd do that all day.

**Chris Martin then rolls in, bowling a full and wide delivery to no avail**

Ian Smith: Yeah, THAT worked.

**Simon Doull nervously laughs**

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

WTF is wrong with Ian Smith nowadays? He's totally lost his f*cking marbles.

The best part is how they went on about Smith only scoring on the leg side and waxed lyrical about Kallis scoring around the wicket. Of course when they showed the wagonwheels, Smith was almost 50/50 and Kallis was over 60% legside.
