Wowzers, some finish that. Excellent top 2 race. Shame the other teams were so shite, a bit too much like the Spanish season.

Amusing to see 2 different sets of fans blubbing. I thought City fans were bricking it after 15 mins... got to be honest the way they were playing I didn't see them scoring once

Somebody should have told the Man City fans before the match that they were going to a big title-deciding game, not a funeral. The Premier League got the grand finale it didn't deserve ... it's been the worst quality Prem ever, which has made for more competition but a very low quality of football. Man City have the best squad and should've won by miles.

It's been lower on quality (apart from the actual quality of goals, which has surely been the best ever) but give me that excitement over the Spanish two-horse race any day. I love watching Barcelona play but nine times out of ten it's art rather than sport.
I like seeing world class players in England but not at the expense of a league that can provide this kind of drama. City may go from strength to strength now but it may inspire their rivals to gamble and invest in real quality.

Must be the first time in perhaps ever that all three promoted clubs survived. That tells you a lot about the overall quality of the PL now - Championship football in a sparkly dress.

Not a bad stab from around six rounds to play, if I do say so myself. Which I do.

And the sixth best team in it might be crowned kings of Europe next weekend. Work that one out!Dello wrote:Must be the first time in perhaps ever that all three promoted clubs survived. That tells you a lot about the overall quality of the PL now - Championship football in a sparkly dress.

Huh. Astonishing. Still thought City were in with a shout going into the last 10 mins for the simple fact that QPR are shite and Joey Barton is a f*cking headcase. Unbelievable finish to the title race. Better than the mundane shite that usually occurs.
Re: The Football Thread - 2011/12 (II)
I thought if they could get one they might nick another but they didn't look like getting even the one goal. So much of their build up is ponderously slow but i guess that's their style.
anyone see Phil Jones celebrating with his shirt off? That was pretty funny.

Aye, that was the best thing about the entire scenario... the total complacence turning that jazz-hands cheers into the utmost of disappointment. I'll cherish that memory.

So does he get a ban for violent conduct on Tevez, followed by another ban for violent conduct on Aguero, or was the second assault a freebie?
Doubt he'll be seen for the first two months of next season. And, judging from how thrilled Mark Hughes looked, I wouldn't be surprised if QPR cut their losses on Barton. He's just not worth it.
Re: The Football Thread - 2011/12 (II)
Aye, he didn't really want to comment on it, he seemed pretty ragged. Barton's lost a lot of his 'quality' now, if he's going back to wanker mode then he's a dead loss.
Re: The Football Thread - 2011/12 (II)
One out of four ain't bad, and I suppose the number of predictions you were throwing around meant you had to get something right in some fashion somewhere.Dello wrote:Dello wrote:

On twitter he's claiming he whacked Aguero and attempted to headbutt Kompany as an attempt to "take one of them with me".
What a prick.

OMG just woke up to the news. Two goals in extra time. Is this for real?

Wasn't jammy as in United scoring two injury time goals to win the Champions League final having been utterly outplayed by Bayern Munich for 90 minutes.
Was merely jammy in the sense that they couldn't have left it any later.
City had about 80% possession and 35 shots at goal. They were more than worthy winners.
Re: The Football Thread - 2011/12 (II)
Pah. 2 goals in extra time in the last game of the season to win the title on goal difference is jammy by any measure.

What sort of penalty is Joey Barton likely to get for his melt-down? An elbow, red card then savage kick and headbutt is shirley worth plenty of time on the sideline??
