I fell asleep. Woke up a little, heard 'penalties' and went back to sleep. First 38 minutes wasn't terrible.

Watched footage of Rooney for England vs France at Euro 2004, and he was fast. Bustling. Took players on.
Heavy and slow these days. He's only about 26. But that's about par for the course. Most footballers that burst onto the scene at at really young age are physically shot by their mid twenties.

Michael Owen?

Owen was finished the day his hamstring exploded. Think he was about 19. Wasn't the same player afterwards.
Re: Euro 2012 Thread
Rooney was abysmal in both games. He shouldn't have stayed on as long as he did in either game. Vilks' signature should be sporting something ATM, but I can't be bothered.

Absolute passenger.

He has two moves. Out on the left, he'll dick around with the ball for a while before turning onto his right foot and slinging a cross in (I also wouldn't pick the equally limited and predictable James Milner).
His other move involves falling over with extreme prejudice.
At least he's good enough to actually beat players and has the technique to put in a decent cross. Out of the players we've got, he'd always be in my England side.
Go f*ck yourself. With a broom. Sideways.

Young was the biggest pile of shit going. I'm no Milner fan but have no clue how Young stayed on and he went off.
Re: Euro 2012 Thread
So Young missing a penalty was a lay down misere then?

Re: Euro 2012 Thread
It wasn't that. Wouldn't have minded had he performed. Italy play their midfield very narrow and as we were only playing two in the middle of the park they were overwhelmed... so when the ball was farmed out to the wing, he needed to keep hold of it otherwise we'd just invite more and more pressure on poor Gerrard and Parker. Instead he found all manner of ways to get caught in possession, misplace an easy pass and generally be gash. It was one of the most dire performances I've seen.

Yep. Milner is only usually used by Mancini if the oppo has a dangerous fullback, as he will track back and press him tirelessly the whole game, allowing our own fullback the freedom to overlap. Used within his limitations he's a decent player, but not what you want at international level.
Still rather have him than that f*ckwit Gashley Young, though.

Thing is with Milner, he's on a hiding to nothing when he's partnered with Glen Johnson - who has the ball control of a toddler and the passing ability of a solvent abuser.

England's best player last night. True story.
Re: Euro 2012 Thread
As I said overleaf, he can defend. I'm still not sure that I've seen someone as bad as him on the ball, though.

Hmmm, maybe... but he did have that outstep trick though - Glen Johnson tried that once, he lost a boot and elbowed a ball-boy in the face.

Oh come along. You just had to look slightly ahead of him to James Milner.
Re: Euro 2012 Thread
James Milner, Jordan Henderson, Joleon Lescott, Scott Parker...
I mean come on, the fact that these names are even in an England shirt confirms that hodgson performed a miracle getting this mob to within a penalty shoot out of the semi finals.
