It did a fair bit - although Newport was more of a swing bowler rather than a seam bowler. Good times- we had a bit of a side in those days. The side that beat the Aussies in batting order:
Curtis
Lord
Hick
D'Oliveira
Botham
O'Shaughnessy
Rhodes
Newport
Illingworth
Radford
Pridgeon
Phil Neale wasn't playing as he had glandular fever. I assume Dilley was injured. Beefy was acting captain - quite possibly the only game we won when he did the job.
The Southern African influence already beginning to appear.

Not yet. But they did get rid of the Indian influence after Duleep and Ranji.
Wait....

Wait....
I think you mean Nawab of Pataudi Sr.
Although I always wondered about Radford.

Much lighter-skinned than Radford and didn't play for the Pears. Probably why.

Redford was good enough to play for the Mean Machine, Nuffi said.

Moody batting at three & Veletta at five....they can't have been taking it too seriously.

Hmm. Would have liked one more warm up game.

That was still at the time when we thought losing to Worcestershire by only a few wickets was a credible result

Re: Ashes 2013 fixtures announced
Happy news.
Mrs K has given in principle agreement for me to take a few weeks of my long service leave to go to a few of the Ashes matches.
Any other Aussies likely to be there? Am thinking Lords and OT at the moment if I can get tickets.

Fark that.
I do have to give in to the rest of the household's demand to get a puppy though.

Golden Lab. Smartest pup I have ever had. Always very good with children. The downside is that they can be destructive as pups.
